Sources for Laptop Batteries in Chile

Post by mlightheart » Thu Feb 06, 2020 1:12 pm

Hey all, does anyone know of any good sources for getting replacement batteries in Chile? I looked on MercadoLibre and the price someone was offering was very expensive.

While Amazon has the battery I need, they won't ship it here. The freight forwarder that I use won't sent the battery to Chile either.

Thanks.

Macbook Pro battery?

No it's for an Asus G551JW. My 2007 MBP is still working and so is the replacement battery in it. But I don't use it much anymore.

never had a problem sending a battery, even when they probably should not have shipped them. shipped whole computers and a bunch of lithium ion for power tools.

should not be an issue, especially for a single computer.

Charles, I know what you mean, but sometimes people make things difficult. I was planning on sending it to Transexpress in Miami and they would transport it to Chile. If the battery is with a computer, they are ok with that. But if it is alone, then they will flag it.

I send laptop batteries from Amzon through Chilebox (of Chilexpress), they send to Chile with no issues, and provide an address in Miami to ship Amazon orders.

Some sellers tend to send battery in huge cardboard boxes and this makes the delivery more expensive.

The cheapest ones (below USD $30, no customs fees) were delivered at about $12.000 CLP (Miami to Valpo).

At this link:

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss ... JW+battery

I see both the cheap "no name" generics (fit in the USD $30 range) and the Battpit™ ones for USD $45.

I had a couple of bad experiences with no name batteries (like inflated, or otherwise unusable). You will not be able to return bad items from Chile, possibly only refund the cost of the battery (if the seller is honest).

Rune, when you use Chilebox don't they ask you for an invoice for your shipment? What does the line item for the battery say on the invoice?

The transexpress people sometimes flag items as being hazardous that are not hazardous. All in all they have been a good service for me to use. They use WSP Express to deliver to my door.

They (Chilebox) have an option to upload an invoice in PDF or JPG or other formats. I make a screenshot from Amazon invoice and upload it. Together with the tracking number (as soon as Amazon posts a tracking number on their site for this item). They have really good site with many online options.

Never had any issues / questions with laptop batteries from Chilexpress.

I send usually not to my address but to the Chilexpress office (this is cheaper for me, and you will have this choice on the Chilebox site). I live 15 min. from the office.

The line on invoice can say:

"Items Ordered
1 of: 7.4V 51WH Laptop Battery for Dell Latitude E5450
Price $34.99
Sold by: Fancy Buying (seller profile)
Condition: New"
