Don't worry, be happy...

One is to believe what isn't true;

This year's Festival in Viña is getting off to a good start.

Was it ever going to be any different?
Violent criminals burning shit and authorities unable to maintain order and protect people and property. No surprises sadly, that's where we are at.
Should never have gone ahead.

Burning and looting of supermarkets, metro attacked, rioting, govt responds basically saying "yeah not cool guys, stop it, hold on , how bout a new constitution ?"

Destruction and vandalism on a massive scale in many urban centers ,
Govt responds "come on guys settle down"

Churches start getting burnt, regions start getting burnt through intentionally lit forest fires, thousands of small businesses destroyed, international reputation in tatters.
Government responds, "come on guys, we are warning you, we dont want to say this again, that constitution thing is still happening, so keep it cool"

Statue commemorating Arturo Pratt gets some paint thrown at it.
Navy and government, "we are going to fuck you up , we will hunt you down and kill you, how dare you attack something so sacred"
https://www.emol.com/noticias/Nacional/ ... mento.html

Lot of people just started supporting a very hard crackdown I bet, not a good idea to attack statures of national heros, not that those that did it would have a clue.......or do they?

yea, but no one seemed to get all that upset about them burning 10,000 books at that book store.

I guess, priorities?

Yeah great start, what a load of crap, inside and outside the show.
Inside MCs full of their own self important inflated egos claiming to be the friggin bridge for Chilean society and unfunny comedians that might have hit the mark before all this started but after 4 months of this shit it fell flat.
Meanwhile outside 20 or so people arrested
20 or so police injured , 4 of them badly, a car dealership burnt, 8 shops looted and property destroyed.
Good times.

That the one in Providencia, the new library, ? A bookstore/cafe also destroyed there, its gard to keep up. Yeah the ones getting upset about books being burnt are unfortunately in the minority in this country, that's the problem.
Yup priorities, well whatever it takes I guess, to get some friggin action and less blowing hard. What a load of friggin bs.

Don't you believe it, a lot of people are highly pissed-off.
They might just have their own "outburst" yet.

And the usual factually wrong, tendentious report by the BBC for their smug remote liberal audience.

Chile protests mar music festival's opening night.jpg
.
Recovered from Plaza Italia. Don't think they were fired by the cops, somehow.

.
And here's one that was fired at the cops in La Serena. A big steel ball that can smash a face shield and take an eye out.

Its bullshit, it's interesting how journalism has changed over the decades. From the (often) chain smoking reporter, that would actually investigate and get into a story and do the leg work, often spending weeks/months away on something, to now days where a lot of journalism is just full of lazy liberals that have been indoctrinated with PC values at university and pick up whatever crap they find on the internet and basically copy and paste views that suit their agenda
Whether it is actually like that I dont really know, but it seems like it , all "news sites" have lowered their standards (and costs, by hiring graduates ) in an effort to keep up with the flood of crap being spewed out in the digital era we now live in and remain relevant.

That particular report ticked me off, so I sent this to the BBC, a news organization I used to respect.
Not that they will take any notice...

The BBC usually does a good job giving a balanced, neutral take on UK domestic issues like Brexit, but it's take on the Chile situation seems to be completely naive. I doubt their reporters do anything more than tag along to protests/riots and stick their microphones in front of a few encapuchados and listen to them spout their "Chile Despierta!" drivel.
