Looking for freezer paper to wrap meat

Post by eeuunikkeiexpat » Sun Nov 24, 2019 8:50 pm

Looking for freezer paper to wrap meat.

All I see is wax paper for baking (papel de mantequilla) but it may serve the purpose if the other is not available.

Maybe it is under some illogical name in Chile as unrestricted searches such as: papel carne, papel congelar, papel congelacion, papel cogelador come up with squat for stuff in-country.

Is that like parchment paper to line cake tins? Jumbo has Reynolds brand online.

Yeah that is the baking paper (silicone coated) but if nothing else is available, then it will have to do though Lider does have their "wax" paper for baking in a 30,5m roll which is very economical.

The main point is freezer paper is designed to preserve meat quality up to a year or more without freezer burn or such deterioration in quality though freezer burn meat is still safe and edible, just not as tasty.

I would innovate with plain brown paper bags..get them in the bakery produce section of Unimart. Put a different style pan in each one and when you self-weigh, put the price sticker in a place where it won't affect reuse of the bag. They are free. I reuse them for storing mushrooms.

Mercado libre has two kinds.

Here is one. I have never bought from the site but it may lead to what you want. Sellers listed as in the Santiago area.

Unfortunately it is from one of the vendors who import products from China or Amazon and markup double or more with 10-15 days of wait time. Was hoping for a domestic or regional made product but it sounds like this part of the world is used to freezer burn. Thanks for bothering to post the link.

I don't know if it is the same, but there is a paper called "papel parafinado" or "antigrasa" or "ceresinado" sometimes. maybe thats it? it is waxy on one side and not on the other and it is used sometimes in food shops.

I have been using the Great Value (Walmart) wax paper with decent results. Haven't seen it for months on the shelf at Lider after the state of emergency began.

I've done the same, with decent enough results. Amazon is once again shipping all sorts of products internationally again, so I'll most likely bite the bullet and get the good stuff from them.
