well, some more data on just how much this is costing, and who is taking the biggest hit. It is not the rich neighborhoods.

Given the lessening posting, Pirahna is not the only one shutting down...

I have a bad feeling that tonight may be as bad as 18-O in shock value and I hope I'm wrong.

I too am checking out for the next so many hours <hic>... :P

they just looted and burned a university.

someone in the government needs to put their big boy pants on, stop coddling the wankers' "human rights" because they got a boo boo from a rubber bullet, and start putting some real led in their asses instead.

If they don't stop it now, with a few real bullets in a few of the wankers...

the alternative becomes, they let this shit go on for what another month, 2 months, 6 months, 2 years?

because the longer this goes on, the question starts becoming not who is going to get led in their ass, but who and how much.

do you let this turn in to a situation where the military has to be deployed with shoot to kill orders?

do you let it go until it turns in to a full armed civil war?

because that is how this shit has ended, 100% of the time.

I thought last week things would return to normal by now with a few shifts in the political sphere. Now I am wondering if the likelihood of this tilting into something more permanent and definitely bad has become much much higher. We were hoping to return next year, but if this doesnt correct itself at some point.. :(

I've seen at least two videos on twitter about civilians armed with pistols, one got detained by the police. Things are getting out of hand when people have to arm themselves when going outside. And both cases are in Santiago too

This could be the new normal

Here is the thing about most of these protests. They are all in places in Chile that was sketchy to be walking around on a normal day.

The intensity of the protests in any particular area, is almost directly proportional to their typical crime statistics.

I don't think that is an accident either.

well, let's see how far the government is willing to let this all go, when it is personal against them and their families.

More than a little concerned that reading "Facebook" and other social media sites is their idea of gathering "intelligence".
