DataChile.io – public country data, visualized

Post by Space Cat » Tue Jan 09, 2018 8:14 pm

A couple of years ago, I was looking at government's endless yearly reports in spreadsheets and wondering if anybody can fetch all this data and present it in a human readable form...

Some cool folks finally did this:

Very interesting - thanks!
lets see if they update it yearly - especially the part about immigration should be interesting for 2017.

You can already see the relative stats, an update will only increase the total numbers:
Haiti - 2% have a uni degree or technical degree
Peru - 9% have them
Colombia - 14%
Venezuela - 48% (41% uni!)

For countries that Chile has the simplified Visa Mercosur agreement, the percentage with a college or technical degree is:

Argentina - 27%
Bolivia - 8%
Brazil - 37%
Paraguay - 12%
Uruguay - 28%

The data pointed by Space Cat is actually quite interesting, as it reinforces the point that Haitian immigrants with higher education are an exception, not the rule.

Yes, I was thinking of total visas granted. Went up from like 2K a few years back and to 27K in 2016. Wonder what the 2017 number will be.

I often encounter interesting charts about Chile but they usually don't deserve a separate thread, so I'll continue to dump them here.

% of immigrants arrived in 2016 in relation to the population of each commune of Santiago:

% of immigrants with university education (2011–2016):

Chile leads the way and I'm glad I'm part of it. Eyes wide open or eyes wide shut...jajaj.
Generally, just a SPAM KILLER. You are on your own in this forum. My personal mission here is done.

BUT when necessary, by way of ridicule and truth revelation we shalt do war.

On the data about 'Trusting the church', it is not clear what those numbers represent. Are those the people that trust 'a lot', or both 'a lot' and also 'some'? How much is some?

I noticed it too, but unfortunately it is a very common way to see the world from the northern part of the Americas.
