Well I was at the recycling today, and they said that they do accept complete books in complete form. I gave them the Top Ten of Everything 1993 edition. I don't think anyone would want that. In fact, it's amazing that that book even made the cut and got onto the shipping container to Chile in the first place. So at the very least everything will get recycled.

However with your ideas I will probably find someone to take most of the books.

The facebook group mentioned by Donnybrook is a nice idea.

For the time being I'm still waiting to hear back from the school before I can offer to anyone else.

I sent all the books to the school: they were very happy to accept except one that was in bad condition. I am still going to pare down my books and DVDs and CDs more over time so the other suggestions will come in handy later.

I think Donnybrooks's suggested facebook group for English books is mainly used by Chileans by the look of it. I actually quite like the idea of getting some English books cheaply or for free into the hands of Chileans on a local salary, or students. Books are too expensive here.
