Just like you, we shop a lot in Ebay and we had to wait more than 8 weeks for our things to arrive and some never made it. I went to the PO and made a complain that got in deaf ears. I can assure you that items don't disappear in thin air and more than one with sticky fingers is doing his/her shopping with our money. There are so many of us with the same issue that a group was formed. https://www.facebook.com/groups/AduanasCorreos.Basta/
Now many vendors don't want to sell to Chile due to the thievery. We stopped ordering big items.
Gloria-san, I used to shop in Ebays, but lots of hustle in case of return-replace, but in case of Amazon, every rep I talk to very responsive
and they promptly gives me credit for any returned items. So nowadays, only shopping in Amazon. Returned a bluetooth headphone
after using it almost a year and noticed earpiece section breaking apart- returned it and they sent me a brand new replacement!
Also they sent me a no charge return label to boot. Very happy with Amazon. No wonder they becoming a Trillion dollar big company pretty soon
Wished had purchased more stocks of this marvelous company !
Rickey-san, we never had any problems with Ebay and as Britkid said, the mess is in this end....Santiago. Customs needs to be revamped from the top to the bottom. Is a matter of fact if I were in charge I would fire each and everyone of those lazy asses and put instead legalize, certified, bona fide and qualified immigrants eager to work.
Now with reference to your shopping with Amazon, kudos to you but you seem to forget that Trumpland is totally different than Piñeraland and things don´t run as they are suppose to.

Ordered a Hitachi G-soword rotary shaver a few years ago from Japan to CA. It only took a few days for it to arrive. back then, this super sharp razor was not available in the US. Yep, perhaps much efficient to get rid of all those "vagos" Chilenos that got their positions in particular company via their Pitutos then replace with Haitiens ? Things will move much orderly Quizas?

Update: One item I ordered back in September finally arrived yesterday. I counted it as lost, but there it was.
So that seems to support the idea a lot of you folks are saying, that stuff rarely gets lost -- it will eventually come to you if you live long enough. :P

I ordered some books from Amazon on Dec 15. They sent a note saying they would arrive before Christmas. I doubted it, being in Chile. The books arrived 6 days later. 6 days later. I repeated because it sounded incredulous.
It's always like this because Amazon uses DHL and employs their own customs agents to speed the delivery up. It's 5-6 working days to southern Chile with the cheapest standard shipping.

Here are my options from https://www.shipito.com for a small item that cost USD $41:
Guess I'll take my chances - again.

I've yet to use Amazon in Chile but I'd like to. How does the Aduana and tax part work?

As an experiment, I made an order today with Amazon.
I already had an account from several years ago, but had never used it.
Had to update my card info, the old one had expired. They also required RUT and postcode.

Pay everything to Amazon and they fix customs, shipping , tax etc.
Quick, easy and painless, but expensive.

So if Amazon does indeed come to Chile the only things that might be different is speed: a little faster(because no Aduana inspections) and all internal shipping?

I would assume substantially lower total price. Bulk shipment and customs clearance should be a lot cheaper than individual ones. I guess import tax should be lower as well as you will be paying tax on Amazon purchase price instead of on final price.

Aren't they already U.S. prices?
Does Aduana now charge tax on shipping charges also?

Spacecat posted that only takes 6-7 days to reach down south chile. That is darn fast me thinks due to in the US may take 2-3 days for receiving the goods. ( free ones) faster if you willing to pay a little extra being told?
Sometime it never arrives 'cause thieves cruising around the nicer neighbourhoods to steal the dropped shipment.!
