Higher quality ceiling fans?

We've moved to La Serena and are trying to find ceiling fans. We bought one Westinghouse one from Sodimac, but it's motor has an annoying hum.

Looking around we haven't found anywhere to buy a higher quality ceiling fan that would be quieter.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how to find some 220V higher quality ceiling fans that are quieter? Anyone know of specialized lighting/fixtures stores in Santiago that could ship us something?

Thanks!

yea, your probably going to want to visit the lighting / electric stores, and it would seem that La Serena would do some good biz in selling ceiling fans.

hroe - If you find high quality fans anywhere, please share. I looked at Sodimac yesterday and they are all completely third world.

We finally found some Hunter ones at Easy that are pretty good. Just happened to be in stock (still on the shipping pallet) a few weeks ago.

You may also be able to order directly with Airolite, who is the local importer, though not sure if they can (or are willing) to order any Hunter fan.

Good luck!

Are they reversible? Thanks for the tip.

Yes. Reversible was a requirement for us.

Chile generates electricity at 50 HZ. Make certain the motor is rated that way. If the motor is rated at 60 HZ, like the electricity produced in the USA, for example, it will hum and not last long.
Ditto for vacuums, hair dryers, power tools, etc.
