Jan 2, a holiday.
Jan 2, a holiday.
Populism at its best, so now, two weeks out from Jan they suddenly want to make the 2nd of January a holiday and are rushing it through as law. This comes after the project to make Jan 2 a holiday was first raised about 4 years ago and went no where and got stuck in the political committee or senate or something. In other news I also see the list of towns reporting "irregularities" (I.e theft) as the new mayor's come in, continues to grow just in Los Lagos region, (God knows what the rest of the country is like) Admin mentioned Frutillar and Puerto Varas the other day, add to that Castro and Puerto Octay. Hey but don't worry at least you will get the 2nd of January off. Viva MB

What an obvious reaction to loosing the last election. Rather than stopping to examine why they got booted out of office, the socialist decide to double down and give more random crap away.

Then there was this response from the exporters (warning, most people will find this somewhere between outright offensive and just poor taste):

Exactly, so far in Puerto Varas the incoming mayor has eliminated 135 positions of people that were basically doing nothing and were there for political favors. 135!! Do the math on that for those wages, then do the math on how often this happened over over the 300 and something comunas in Chile.

Re: Jan 2, a holiday.
There estimating that extra day of holiday, will cost the country 120 million dollars.
Not clear if they are including the paid holiday by private companies.
Nothing like starting off your 2017 budget in a small buisness with a suprise tax to make you feal all warm and fuzzy about your prospects for the rest of the year under a laim duck socialist administration that is at best currupt and at worst just a bunch of morons that dont understand how economics work.

Re: Jan 2, a holiday.
Haha more than likely, at least he or some of his buddies might have a clue about doing few more things for the city though, because the last lot were an absolute disaster, it was bad enough the were useless and stole millions but the state they left the municipal schools and education and how many days kids missed this year, or the quality of their learning establishments and treatment of teachers, was pretty disgusting. Considering these are the people they are suppossed to be helping, what a joke, if only it wast so tragic.fraggle092 wrote:That was probably to make room for his own buddies.MJSaywell wrote:Exactly, so far in Puerto Varas the incoming mayor has eliminated 135 positions of people that were basically doing nothing and were there for political favors.
Re: Jan 2, a holiday.
Haha yeah, although I have heard some people involved in high risk industries such as construction, give their workers the 2nd off anyway, the sensible ones that is, as they know their workers will probably show up still drunk after an all nighter on the 31st and an asado on the 1st and an all day drinking session, the budget doesnt usually last to go for a third day, so at least by the 3rd they maybe a bit slow but not intoxicated on the job.admin wrote:There estimating that extra day of holiday, will cost the country 120 million dollars.
