Finding a little slice of heaven, not too far from all the services one might need or want, with no pollution, with a decent climate, good water, reasonably reliable electricity supply, etc. Its possible, we did it! But campo life versus big or even small city life comes with its own set of challenges. And the bigger question is, how much energy do you have to continually meet those challenges? Peregrine77, we have lived through some of those 'events' that you mentioned in the 10 years that we have been here, and whilst it is something of an adrenaline rush to know that one/we have survived it/them,... the real question for the newcomer is not 'can you deal' with these adversities, it is how many times do you want to put your mettle to the test? These are the realities of rural living in Chile and they are not always obvious to the enthusiastic newcomer. Buena suerte a todos! It can be an amazingly wonderful experience!
