RV's in Chile?

Post by spamghod » Sun Oct 07, 2007 9:57 pm

Maybe a dumb question, but I'll throw it out anyway. At one point in the USA, I considered buying an RV to become more mobile. I never got around to it, but the thought occurred to me as I've perused this website. Granted, they (RV's) lose value pretty quickly, but can be convenient as hell sometimes. In other posts, I've read that furniture is expensive in Chile. So, are RV's in use at all in Chile? If you have access to water and electricity--it may be worth the hassle, especially if you are in a not so populated area.

Any comments? Like I said, just a thought.................

If you google RV Chile, you'll find some interesting sites. I ran across a blog at one time about a family that went to South America back in 1978.

I would guess the hard core RVers have lots of information.

Is it possbile to buy one in Chile to live in? Seems to me, it might make finding a place to live much easier.

I don't think so, RVs in Chile is still in dippers and I'm pretty sure that there are not facilitys rthat can accomodate RVs. Now that does not mean that is not possible. I do not think that you can find RVs there but you may want to buy and all bus and do the transformer staff if you like praject.

You might want to think about converting a van or box truck to be a liveaboard. Its not too hard to do and its probably easier to find a space to park in overnight than if you go for an all out RV.

They apparently rent them so I would think it's possible to buy.

A friend of mine (+wife and 2 children...8/10 years) wants to rent an RV out of Santiago, explore Southern Chile for a few weeks and return to Santiago. The link below has good information about rentals. Does anyone have advice I can pass onto them? Red, yellow and green flags welcomed. Thanks in advance for your advice.
