Rumor has it, the group we must not talk about, that was run by some un popular Argentineans pretending to be americans....
anyway, the website has been taken over by a very responsible gringo with ties to other well known gringo websites in santiago.....

can anyone confirm that? or did i hear wrong? and if so, could they be put back n the list of things we can talk about if that was the case?

(those who are important know what im talking about)

i cant confirm, my account was banned from their site!

The word a couple of months back was that it was under new management. So is this another change? I notice a post making fun of certain posters on allchile like Gloria, Rune, me, etc. is no longer on there.

Yea, actually had a phone conversation with the new owner sometime ago about what he bought, will not get in to all the details. Let's just say he was not very happy with the former owners as they failed to disclose a few things.

For now, let's just see how things develop.

My policy, both before and after that fiasco with the Argentinians, is to never connect our reputation to any other company, business, government agencies, or expat community in Chile. I have no control over what they do or don't do, and there is very little in it for us to gain and a whole lot to loose. Our autonomy and independence from all the bs, has made it possible to keep this forum and our business humming along.

I am contacted all the time by people that want to do some sort of "partnership" or "interchange", and I simply have said no from the day we started and will likely keep it that way for some time to come. Someone will have to have something very seriously advantageous to us to even consider it. So far, no one has really come up with anything to peak my interest in even seriously entertaining the idea of putting our reputation out there.

Mmm so it is true, i wouldn't suggest affiliating with another group!, but i have to say if someone asks, are there any social expat communities in chile i would be inclined to recommended them,

but i have to say i dont think the community was worth paying for..... shame someone was ripped off!

good to know!
p.d wonder if my ban has gone, should try re register!

they bought the forum? that's bizarre. I wonder if they now partially own me. Ick. Seems heavily creepy. I seldom do or say anything over there anyway. Now I'm doubly glad. And triply curious!
