Thatcher's and Reagan's policies were the catalyst for the dire socio/economic conditions the US and the UK currently face. No tears from me!

Thatcher raised taxes on the poor and middle class, and embraced some of the most violent human rights abusers around the world. How quicly we forget that she, as well as Reagan reigned over the highest taxes for the middle class in their respective countries, and propped up dicatators around the world.

Lefties are only in favor of the Mao's, Castro's & Stalin's. If they wear red and put "social" in front of every other word, they're kosher. Any dictator who might ally with the US is bad.

roles of Reagan and Thatcher in helping to create conditions which just happened to coincide with the implosion of the late Soviet empire
Pure coincidence. They were sitting in the chairs at the time. The pacifism and appeasing noises by Jimmy Carter et al would have brought true peace, for ever and ever. Really.

Or Gorbachov Did It. No, really.

But look on the bright side - it looks like we will get to see just how the socialism that Reagan and Thatcher interrupted works out.

You mean like how the current Liberal leaders of both countries are NOT doing???? Rotflamo! How quickly the pot condemns the kettle for doing it and then takes up the kettle's ideas under the cloak of liberalism... But then lacks the balls to admit they want to be like the kettle...

Give the Leftists credit - they supported the BIG dictators who were enemies, such as the USSR or North Vietnam. When our Leftists bailed from SE Asia, slaughter ensued in Vietnam and Cambodia....with no political consequence to said Leftists, as they were busy paying more people more money to do less which was and is quite popular. Reagan & Thatcher made hard choices, including with allies, to do needful things. Both were right, and took down the Soviets with fairly little bloodshed. Leftists will never forgive them for that.

Here comes the part where they tell us Gorbachov did it. They cannot win on honest facts, so they re-write history.

Taxes were higher under Ronnie and Margaret. That is a fact. Kettles, cloaks, balls and pot, all fall by the wayside if you looks at facts. You can roll on the floor laughing madly, or whatever.

Let's start with Reagan. Taxes were higher for whom?

Oh, and tell me about New Left and Vietnam. And the 1968 convention and George McGovern, babies of the New Left. And the liberal Democrats and SE Asia circa 1975. And what followed.
