Getting PDI Certificate from different city.

Post by cr0zzb0w » Fri Aug 02, 2019 12:28 pm

Hey all..

From what I heard, getting an appointment from the PID for a "Certificado de vigencia de permanencia definitiva" might take weeks to months for extranjeros who live within Santiago!!

(i might have heard here) that it is possible to go to another city and wait in the queue and get this done faster? Please advise if this is true, and if so, where is the best(closest) city I can go get it done. for what I saw there are PDI offices in Valparaiso and Rancagua but I don't know if all offices offer this service!!

again, please advice. I really need to get this done in the next two weeks.

I needed one of those recently to renew my Cédula, this is in La Serena. After some confusion I managed to explain my situation to one of the PDI functionaries, who went away and came back in 5 minutes with the appropriate paper. All I needed was the PR Certificate and the old Cédula, maybe I got lucky. But ymmv.

Don't know if they will do it, but the alternative low traffic choices are Los Andes or San Antonio.

I had the same problem last year so went to Talca. The PDI man wasnt too happy and said I needed to get it in the city where I lived. I explained that this was not a requirement mentioned on the govt webpage, and he begrudgingly gave it to me.

I have gone to at least four different PDI offices, walked right in and received what I need no questions asked.
One of the best places to do it is at a border crossing. No wait at all.

This was all done in Region X, your mileage vary in the north of Chile.
