Webhosting in Chile and .cl domain name

Hi All,

I am interested in starting a website/blog and plan to use it to get ad revenue from google ads. My concerns and question is as follows

Concerns:

I want to do anonymous/private domain registration.
Don't want to use a .com domain so the US government can't sieze the domain, should they be so inclined one day, so looking at .CL
Want the website, if it ends up being financially successful, to possibly serve as a business that could help me and my family get residency
I would also like anonymous web hosting setup, but this seems difficult to impossible for Chile webhosting as all the top ones are pretty primitive for privacy security options, unlike Europe and Asia

Questions
Assuming the website is successful and generating income and I want to use it as the basis for a Chilean business to help get residency, does it need to be webhosted in Chile? Does it need to have a .CL domain extension?
If I host it outside of Chile, say in Europe or Asia, and still have a .CL domain extension can I still try to use it as a business for establishing residency?
What about Tax implications? I am a US citizen and I suppose if Google Ads is paying me, that would be a US corporation. Does the location of the webhosting not actually matter or does it in terms of taxation issues?

Thanks for the help!
Mem

How about some specificity to go along with the negativity?

No anonymous/private domain registration for.cl domains.

Immigration advice regarding outside or inside web income has been discussed muchisimo and I don't believe the disadvantages of doing it the business/investor way has changed.

Is it negative when someone who knows this inside out says NO? or is it positive that someone who knows this inside out said NO?, i think the amount of no's was a significant positive contribution to the thread. :)

Ahhhh, chile controls nothing including their domain name system. Until there is a real alternative to the global DNS system the u.s. will own it. They like having the option to flip the switch and say turn off china. It was designed that way from the start.

Immigration issues discussed before on the forum still apply, and owning a web site vs. Some other type of biz is no diffrent.

Bottom line you will still need to prove you can support yourself, independent of your investment.

I seem to recall that a plan was recently approved to hand over control of domain names to the United Nations.

Here it is:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/03/10 ... _approved/

This has been in the works for several years. And it is not yet fully settled. But it seems clear that the Obama administration intends to hand over control of domain names to an international organization. Not the UN, but ICANN. France is opposed, claiming that Google and other large internet companies have too much influence over ICANN.

Forget it. It can't be done.

You cannot make enough money using Google Ads in order to make a living. Unless you do pr0n or some illegal activity.

You might be able to supplement an existing income with a website, but forget it. If you own TVN or Mega or BioBio, you might make additional income, but I doubt that you own some independent broadcaster outright.

If you own a more-than-ten-year-old domain that has some recognition, maybe. But then you risk scumbags registering a similar domain.

Believe me, I know. LOGIN Noticias got usurped by a disgruntled ex-reporter who started up... loginregional as his domain. Scumbag? Yes. Professional? Wannabe. I registered LOGIN back in 99. Has it helped? Not really. EN back in 98. Helped? Nope. CAFE & others back in 95-96. Stolen by the representante legal. Useful? No.

The only way to make money is to do pr0n/nudity/warez or other sites designed to flout the law.

Oh, and NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER use a chilean host. Can you say "incompetent?" There are much better ones out there in Yanquilandia, like the one I use.
