Re: Have a poor friend in Santiago needing cardiac care and possibly surgery. How can I help her from US?

Poor chileans have more benefíts than anyone else. They know where to ask for help. It's matter of calling the Township (Municipalidad) where they live ... Don't send cash or make money transfers. If you do, you are on your own. If you read again the original message you will see that the OP was no...

Re: International shipping unreliable

But since 2017 everything delivered through Correos takes from 8 weeks or even gets lost (which has never happened before). And it seems that it is affecting not only parcels: the Christmas cards that I sent at the end of October still have not arrived. Update: One of the Christmas cards arrived to...

Re: wealth distribution in chile

This is an interesting study on wealth distribution in chile. http://www.economiaynegocios.cl/noticias/noticias.asp?id=450845 One thing it does not seem to capture is total household wealth vs. Monthly incomes. I don't think that calling it a 'study on wealth distribution in chile' is an appropriat...

Re: looking for a reliable (?) gasfiter

Water pipes are no longer used for grounding. Ground currents can cause corrosion. Also the copper pipe you see may be connected to a PVC mains pipe further back, and so cannot be relied on to provide a solid ground. A bad ground is probably worse than no ground. Yes, after I posted I thought that ...

Re: looking for a reliable (?) gasfiter

So what was the nail for? It was the eletric ground for the whole house. .... Historically, the home’s copper water pipe system provided a safe ground for the home’s electrical system. The plumbing system was grounded because its metal pipes extended a long way underground. http://homeguides.sfgate...

Re: Can a Chilean (non-resident) use a foreign driving licence in Chile?

From what you posted, I understand that the important detail is that it says ' nacionales de otros países....'. I understand that it used to be that if a Chilean acquired a foreign nationality they would automatically lose their Chilean nationality, but that was changed, and now, even if a Chilean m...

Re: Any policy for foreigner who rent apartments then sublet to tourists/ travelers

In Chile, the law is an ass.....the most outrageous things can happen with properties. Don't try this at home. Un hombre es acusado de subarrendar, las habitaciones de una casa que se tomó hace algunos meses en Providencia. Días atrás, el dueño fue sacado de su propio inmueble. (When he tried to ex...

Re: Divorce Process

From what you have written, and with the context of the information provided by admin (the owner of this forum), I don't get a good feeling. If the only explanation you have been given is the planned wedding in September, then I would be very careful, since it seems that the document that you are be...

Re: Divorce Process

Hopefully you get more information tomorrow, since now in Chile is just past midnight.

Send the lawyer a message that you are looking into the legal aspects of this. You could reply in Spanish, or in English, as your ex can do the translation for the lawyer.
