Re: BCG Vaccine
Ok, half a glass of wine.... Playing to the other side of the unfettered immigration/vaccination issue. There has been a startling outbreak of yellow fever in certain nations over the past couple of years. If you want to really understand how bad yellow fever is, I think the Wikipedia page will give...

Re: BCG Vaccine
Meh. One more glass of wine, and I will be telling people to go to hell. Or worse. Happens all the time.
I also make a living making great arguments that confuse people. It's a gift.
cheers,

Re: BCG Vaccine
I will wade into this one because I actually really know something about it. Our firm "debunked" the Wakefield studies. If you are interested in learning why the science was junk science (worse really than junk science because he clearly had a bad ulterior motive rather than just innocently optimist...

Re: Cremation in Chile - Legal Requirements
In order to have my husband cremated I had to produce a notarised letter of intent signed by him OR our son had to give the OK. It had to be his closest blood relative. I obviously was not his blood relative. If you don't have family here then getting the notarised letter is probably the best cours...

Cremation in Chile - Legal Requirements
Here is a question that I have been meaning to ask for a while. For those of us that don't necessarily want to be planted in the local cemetery, I have heard that cremation in Chile is not as simple as it would be in the US. I have been told by Chilenos that it requires pre-planning and two witnesse...

Re: BCG Vaccine
Without getting into the merits of whether or not you should or should not get a TB vaccine for your child (and for everyone else's) while living in Chile, this might be a resource. I have not read it, but it might be a place to start. https://detenganlavacuna.wordpress.com/2015/08/27/como-evitar-va...

Re: chile's migration crisis
Good grief. You have to read 100 articles before you find this nugget: "El ataque habría sido realizado por un hombre con aparentes problemas psicológicos, según información publicada por El Mercurio." http://www.eldesconcierto.cl/2017/11/22/queremos-irnos-de-chile-refugiados-sirios-protestan-luego-...

Re: one last look
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and just say that you probably have not actually located a decent house in Pucon/Villarrica. Feel free to PM me with info on your house. If you have not spent a full winter (April through November) living in that house, you probably haven't a clue whether it is a dece...

Re: finding a safe quite parcela with my Chilean girlfriend
Last year in Batuco, an elderly American lady, a Yoga professor no less, shot dead two out of four delinquents who had broken into her home. A wonderful thing!! Heh. That's pretty badass. Just like a Chilean yute to hit her with their gun. Probably wasn't even loaded. "Go ahead, make my day." This ...

Re: chile's migration crisis
Tell us where "most are ending up". Is it actually most, or just some? It's early days yet but what I'm seeing around Villarrica is only positive. The potential powder keg in the 9th region is going to be the Mapuche v. Haitiano issue. The jobs at the grocery stores and restaurants may seem like no...

Re: To flush or not the toilet paper.
The IBIS hotel at Central Station in Santiago has a sign in the lobby bathroom to not put your papers in the inodoro. Which is strange, because nothing in the rooms says that. I flush anyways, since the only time I am using it is while I am waiting to check into my room after getting off the overnig...
