Re: Safe deposit box

They certainly used to have them. Some years ago they tunnelled into a bank on Apoquindo in front of Apumanque over a long weekend via an empty property next door and emptied the safe deposit boxes. No one could prove the value of their loss, some didn't want to say. It must have cost the bank a fai...

Re: The Pinera administration 2.0

You really have to stay in a country a long time to have an overview of real change. Chile's story has been more the tortoise than the hare. Re: Housing market situation

41southchile, the exact same thing happened to Viña del Mar with huge buildings stretching across what used to be sand dunes. Pucon used to be a pleasant town to visit in summer, now worth avoiding, especially in February.

Re: Newbie considering Chile

There are 7 or 8 dedicated Vietnamese restaurants here in Santiago already. Expat numbers (English speaking) are a lot smaller in Chile than in Ecuador. You would really need decent Spanish to make a go of it here. You certainly couldn't go 6 years with English and rudimentary Spanish. Concepcion is...

I don't know what prices are doing...

Re: New rules for Latam.

I just consider paying for my seat at time of booking part of the total cost. On long haul I like to use premium economy and there are a lot fewer seats than in economy. Others prefer to take their chances at online check in.

LAN used to be great in the air and very poor on the ground. Now they have taken a more balanced approach. Mediocre in the air and mediocre on the ground.

Re: Worth Getting Citizenship?

I renewed mine late in December for an expiry the first days of February. You can now, theoretically, get an appointment for the PDI letter step in Santiago but you have to watch the website for appointments with the concentration usually demanded of playing Whack-a-Mole. Appointments are also avail...
