Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone

And yes, you can change the SIM as all Chile providers must work on any device sold by a licensed taxed Chile entity. There is even a process to switch carriers and keep the same number. So "liberado" just means the phone doesn't come with a prepaid card attached. It doesn't mean a non-liberado pho...

Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone

Incoming texts and calls are free. Cheap friends and family used to ring me and then hang up before I would answer so that I would call them back and have to spend my minutes to figure out what they wanted. Thanks. I have an unlimited skype account, so I use that to call people back. Except I still...

Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone

Need to clarify, any promotional initial credits probably do expire and disappear if not used, the charge that does not expire is pure phone credit that you purchase that is then used to buy data bolsas. The data bolsas do expire and disappear but the phone credit for voice and SMS carryover on the...

Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone

Are any of these wrong? * The minutes, SMS, and MB's will expire in 30 days, but I'll probably get the unexpired back if/when I do a recharge * The minutes only get used up with outgoing calls, not incoming * SMS's get used up by any outgoing SMS, even if it's a reply to someone else's. But incomin...

Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone

As for charging with prepaid. You can keep it active by "receiving" an incoming call via say Skype at least once every 90 days and only charge it (Movistar needs 500 pesos minimum) when really needed. Each charge lasts for 30 days but is cumulative if you do not use it all and then charge it again ...

FYI, Serviestado can help with Tercera Clave & Clave Internet-related issues. I usually go there, as it's less packed and they have better work hours.
Thanks, that's good to know. I looked at the banco Estado website, but they don't have everything listed. Either that, or I just couldn't find it.

Re: problem with Banco Estado's online banking

Play pathetic dumb foreigner with the plus of being a gringo and let the BE ladies help you (this could also be an opportunity to meet a chilena buena  ). Remember, this is a governmental entity that somehow managed to quickly put up a website in Haitian creole before fully doing Mapuch...

Re: problem with Banco Estado's online banking

It's hard for me to get to the bank during banking hours, otherwise that would've been easier. Serviestado might work, if this is something they can help with. I'm just not sure what they can and can't do.

Re: problem with Banco Estado's online banking

I got my cell phone working, and entered it into my account. But I'm still getting the same error:( So I'm not sure what to try next, except calling the help line again. Find somebody for whom it works. Then compare every detail to see what is different. I think I have it narrowed down to the last ...

Re: problem with Banco Estado's online banking

I found this on Banco Estado's website: ¿Cómo puedo registrar mis Datos de Seguridad? Accede a tu Banca en Línea con tu RUT y Clave de Internet y sigue los siguientes pasos: * En el menú selecciona la opción “Transferencias” y luego “Datos de Seguridad”. * Registra tus datos de contacto donde deseas...

Re: problem with Banco Estado's online banking

I tried entering my cell phone on a different screen, and finally got past the first problem. Now it says this: Para realizar esta operación, debe completar la validación de sus Datos de Seguridad llamando al 600 200 7000. Al finalizar, podrá recibir su Tercera Clave cada vez que la necesite. So I c...
