Re: Hello everyone!

No wonder the "chilean cuisine" is so bad, if you can make a chilean happy with such junk................ as happy as you can make a gringo expat with a hamburger, a German expat with a Bratwurst or Döner or what else junk food they might be craving for abroad... People all over the world from time...

Re: The warmest people in Chile are Expats

Chileans are lazy people, I would say that is out of discussion here hahahahahaa, I worked in Canada and people really work there!!!! I mean they dont spend 15 minutes chats with their workmates talking about the soup opera or the hockey game, they understand that you have been paid for working not...

Re: The warmest people in Chile are Expats

Curicó isn't south. It isn't "south" until you get on the Antarctic side of Lago General Carrera. I know and if you had read my post more carefully you would have noticed that precisely I didn´t put it as an example for southern friendliness but for rural friendliness in Chile:) I have met nice peo...

Professional Visa, You have a degree, (lots of paper work) subject to contrat, you have a job offer with a written contract in chile, (easiest) BUT if your visa is subject to a contract, you are bound to your job for about two years (?!) and I understand have to start a new application process if y...

Re: The warmest people in Chile are Expats

I think this generalization of Southern friendliness is somehow a myth. Chileans tend to have a rather romantic view of Southern Chile. As someone stated before, I found the "friendliness level" to be related to the fact if you´re in the countryside or bigger towns. Some of the friendliest people I ...

Re: Let's network, amigos!

Welcome to the forum! I found myself in quite a similar situation as you when I moved to Chile in 2007. Job search can be extremely frustrating here when you somehow don´t seem to fit in any niche. I studied translation and found it nearly impossible for my languague combinations to find an inhouse ...

Re: Hola guiris!

Re: Arriving in Santiago in 8 days!

Ooo boy I'll have to look better. At the deli or pre-packaged? I'm so spoiled here in Madison, there's actually a store about a mile away that's exclusively cheese... Saw it at the pre-packaged cheese fridge section in Jumbo at Ñuñoa (Macul con Grecia). But admittedly their offer is always changein...

Re: Comin' to Santiago

In general, Santiago is interesting and I enjoyed my time there. I wouldn't want to live there, but would have missed out on a good time getting my equilibrium before venturing out. And it´s even pretty great to live here! I feel quite the opposite, I´m not sure how interesting it might be as a tou...
