Re: Prices of makeup and skincare in Chile: ouch!

Petrizzio seems to have some light ones, also they do have a transparent one.
Really, where did you find that? I buy alot of Petrizzio as it´s more reasonably priced that many expensive import products. But in the farmacias or other places I buy they don´t have light powder shades:-(

Re: Prices of makeup and skincare in Chile: ouch!

Anyone knows where I could find transparent face powder? The last one I bought from Etienne, which according to the salesclerk was their lightest shade and looked fine to me in the shop, applied on my skin made me look kind of like this: http://www.makeupstyleideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/dar...

Re: A Yankee Abroad

So that's where all this BS about Chile being cheap comes from  People pay normal price, but assume they pay double because they are gringos, and that in "real Chile" everything is half the price they pay. mm, good point, maybe I AM being constantly ripped off and just have failed to notic...

Re: A Yankee Abroad

As far as your physical appearance, be prepared to get ripped off just about everywhere you go and by everyone, they will double prices for you (gringo tax). Hey Laserforsail, there are actually a lot of people, who, inspite of not living in a "gringo bubble" and having lived in Santiago for quite ...

Re: Sourdough bread

Fstop,

there´s a German woman in Santiago who sells a variety of sour dough and multigrain breads. You can order them via her website and she will deliver them to your address.

Re: Your proudest Chile moment?

he first time I opened my mouth and nobody automatically replied "hey, where are you from? gringo?" (three years after arrival!) I´ve been living for 4 years here now and I still don´t manage to do that! Still many people will try to talk to me in English, although my Spanish is far better than my ...

Re: Your proudest Chile moment?

I always feel really happy about how friendly and welcoming Chilean people are. One of my oldest memories is of getting terribly lost in Santiago and asking a shop owner, an old lady, for the way, who then insisted on closing down her shop and actually show me herself my way back for at least a 20-m...

Re: Riots continue

It is certainly possible to live a sheltered urban life. Most do. So, my perspective is not realistic because of my sheltered life (what´s that supposed to mean, anyways? I cannot see I shelter my life, because I don´t feel much of a need for such a shelter). Other persons can´t give their opinion,...

Re: Riots continue

When you've been in Chile long enough to personally suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous demonstrations, perhaps we can return to compare new perspectives. Hmmmm, I´ve been living for 4 years in Chile now and somehow I always manage to avoid the "slings and arrows of outrageous demonstrations...

Re: Chilean music

Not to forget Chico Trujillo, really love this group and their party-compatible cumbia music. Concerts of them are really great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlZFahgCL1s Same thing (great concerts and very danceable) applies to Banda Conmoción: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj3N3I4jYEo Pánico, Ch...

Re: Riots continue

One last bizarre detail, that I'd like to share with you is that , the city center is full of people dressed as Zebras, who walk across the Zebra crossings, in an attempt to educate drivers and pedestrians about using the Zebra crossings! That´s actually pretty great, I think I might start to do th...
