Re: electric vehicles in chile
this is what i have been waiting for, a drop in V8 replacment electric motor. I think it would be fun to have something like a classic Toyota fj 40 with an electric motor, with 300+ horse power. think the orginal only had a 100 hp. Very cool idea, but as one of the comments said, you gotta figure o...

Re: Chile Wealth, Inequality, and International rankings
here is one of those fun budgets showing costs of living in the united states, that totally blows holes in the u.s. goverment definition of "middle" class and "poverty". https://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-budget-shows-how-a-350000-salary-barely-qualifies-as-middle-class-2019-09-11?mod=personal-...

Re: Real life experience Fonasa B with the private system
I believe I might have run into one of the founders, Ukrainian, If I remember correctly, of the startup that you are talking about back at a roof party in 2013. I was hesitant to think that he could make much happen with $50k USD, but the idea was cool. Way more developed than others that I learned ...

Re: Gastro Medical Help For Friend in Chile With Fonasa
Sorry for your loss, admin. Very good story and insight into the catastrophic insurance coverage and ISAPRE experience overall. I know that you mentioned it before that there were a few times in all of this they your connections helped smooth out the process, but realistically, how much would this h...

Re: U.S. IRS starting to revoke passports
one fbar fine, or one facta fine, is over $50,000 u.s. here is how simple it is for them to do this. you open an account in a foriegn country. you wire money to that account from your u.s. account. you either don't know, don't remember, or don't how to correctly file all the documents you are requi...

Re: U.S. IRS starting to revoke passports
As the article points out...expats may not get the letter from the IRS. There should be a way to proactively check if you are on their naughty list Mix-ups at the IRS are inevitable, but I can't imagine that being in that kind of debt with the IRS would come as a an overnight surprise. If you are m...

Re: chile's migration crisis
I find it funny that considering all the worries about the economy and specifically, the unemployment rate, the biggest initiatives that the left is pushing right now is decreasing the number of weekly working hours per worker. Even on the local news reports on TV most Chileans recognize the argumen...

Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone
Incoming texts and calls are free. Cheap friends and family used to ring me and then hang up before I would answer so that I would call them back and have to spend my minutes to figure out what they wanted. In any case, credit is consumed in fractions of a minute, not an entire minute for a 5 second...

Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone
Are any of these wrong? * The minutes, SMS, and MB's will expire in 30 days, but I'll probably get the unexpired back if/when I do a recharge * The minutes only get used up with outgoing calls, not incoming * SMS's get used up by any outgoing SMS, even if it's a reply to someone else's. But incomin...

Re: cheapest easiest way to get a cell phone
The cell phone can be set to English. You could even install Skype on it to use as a "cordless" landline within your house. But that would mean you would have to turn the wifi on your router back on

Re: chile's migration crisis
someone had an interesting point in one of these comments. If Guiado's opposition goverment is in control of billions of dollars of Venezuela's assets around the world, and are calling on countries to accept and help more venezuelans leaving Venezuela, then why don't they start paying countries to ...

Re: junking an old car
You may want to walk into a repair shop and ask what they typically do with their junkers. That, or ask your insurance company where they send their totaled vehicles. If you are limiting your search to junk yards with an online presence, I'm not surprised that you aren't finding anything close by. I...
