Re: 8.4 earthquake, tsunami evacuation (official thread)

I just watched the CNN international report, and they were struggling to even spin an interesting story out of this. The Same up here in Canada.......... the CTV National Late news gave it 30 seconds, then turned back to razor wire, tear gas and water cannons used on refugees in Hungary........ The...

Re: Expat Life in Chile Blog

There are plenty of free hosting services available for people who want to start a blog.

I have personally used Weebly in the past. (link below) Works great and has a free plan option. I know there are many more, a quick google search should turn up tons of options.

Re: Elqui Valley: International Dark Sky Santuary

The Elqui Valley is most defiantly one of the most memorable places I have ever visited. Although the recognition is nice, the pictures just don't do it justice. Especially at night!

Re: Santiasco Air Quality a la Bei Jing..

Wow, I'm shocked to see the poor air quality in the southern Chilean cities as well. Valdivia - 174 (unhealthy) http://aqicn.org/city/chile/valdivia/ Osorno - 160 (unhealthy) http://aqicn.org/city/chile/osorno/ Won't give me data for the other southern cities, not sure why. If anyone has another sit...

Re: What is a good Salary in Santiago?

The equivalent of a strong salary all depends on your standard of living, your relevant experience and a whole bunch of other factors. I know a lot of managers in Chile that make anywhere from 2.5 million - 10 million a month. (not including bonuses) Personally, I couldn't keep up my standard of liv...

Yes - what Dosedmonkey said. Vicuna or anywhere in the Elqui Valley. Keep your eyes opened and looking up at night. Truly awesome if you get lucky!

Re: calbuco volcano blows southern chile

Well, the rain hit. we even had some hail for a few mins, but now it is sustained and heavy with a good wind behind it. Well, that should create a fine mess. Does anyone know if volcanic ash is good for anything ? Here are some uses. http://en.mercopress.com/2012/06/04/bright-side-of-the-puyehue-er...

Re: Old Bank Account

Just an FYI for anyone else who might be reading this in the future and wondering about the outcome - I checked my DICOM thru Servipag/Equifax website and there was nothing.

At this point I'm sure they simply closed the account.

Re: Old Bank Account

Thank you for the info. I have never had, nor will I ever need credit in Chile. That's why it doesn't bother me. My concern was a fear of some ridiculous rule/law that states because they think I owe money, I wouldn't be allowed to leave the country. I just didn't want to be at the airport one day ...
