Not sure if this is possible as I've never attempted this or ever used one, but possibly you can send your friend a travellers cheque through the mail and they can cash it. I'm sure someone will be kind enough to poke holes and expose any flaws in this idea, but it's just a thought.

For some awesome start gazing try the Elqui Valley just outside la Serena (approx 5 hours north of Santiago) excellent skies, over 360 days a year of cloudless views and a lot of observatories in the area that offer tours of their facility. New to the forum.

Hello all, been reading this forum for over 6 months now and finally decided to register now that I'm living back in Chile.
