Re: What will surprise me?

You might actually be surprised that there are a lot of Italians in Chile. Practically most of Vina Del Mar is of Italian decent and speak Italian. Also a lot in Santiago and I met quite a few in La Serena. Not sure about down south, I have never met an Italian down south, I always seem to meet a lo...

Re: Apartment Lease

Ask very nicely and maybe even try to find someone who is willing to take over the balance of the lease, as that should help ease the landlords financial burdens if they are more concerned about the income. Alternatively, if he's going to be a prick and wants to play hard ball, subtly hint that you ...

Did you book through a website? I have found that when you book through a website most of the time IVA is not included, and always states that IVA will be added.

Re: Input re: schools-where to start??!!

Outside of Santiago there are some great international schools …... An international school is a specific type of school although most people use the word in a looser way. The only real one in Chile is NIdo de Aguilas with TIPS a possible contender. Other schools are basically Chilean schools with ...

Re: Input re: schools-where to start??!!

Other areas that are just as nice or even nicer than Las Condes in Santiago Include Vitacura, Lo Barnechea, Chicureo, Providencia & la Reina. All have great schools to choose from. Outside of Santiago there are some great international schools in Vina Del Mar, and I'm sure there are some down south ...

I hear a lot of people saying that these fires are being intentionally set. Has anyone heard anything about this? The theory is that the government is intentionally starting them and plans on blaming the Mapuche for starting them? Anyone heard anything similar? I also heard that the electrical syste...

Re: Coming to Chile for 2 years.

Hi, Two years should be adequate for your children to pick up the language. The important part is to keep it up once you leave. Regarding your monthly 1.1 million pesos. Is it enough? That depends, enough for what? It all depends on your lifestyle and spending habits. I know people who get by on a l...

Re: Chile Air Force releases UFO video

If anyone is interested in seeing some real UFOs then check out the Valle De Elqui & the Atacama Desert. Most of the sightings are Orbs (balls of light/energy) that are usually confused for UFOs, but they are actually just an environmental phenomena that we as humans don't fully understand yet. (I a...
