Re: Income Tax on Foreign Income

I would be interested to know more about this as well. What is the policy for permanent residents who are working overseas and who are in Chile only a few weeks of the year? I would imagine you are going to have trouble when you need to renew your carné, as if I recall correctly, during a 5 year pe...

Well put 41 southchile.
It is always true that whenever something bad happens, and some people lose, there are always others that gain. It’s a strange fact of life.

Re: TransferWise Charging 3%-4% Now

This is what Banco de Chile said about the fees for sending US$: la comisión cobrada para recibir dólares desde el extranjero es 1 % + IVA, con un mínimo de 15 dólares.- la cuenta corriente de moneda nacional recibirá el dinero según el tipo de cambio del día de la transacción That’s why I dont sen...

Re: TransferWise Charging 3%-4% Now

"Then I can change US$ to CLP whenever I want in BCI". This part is without a fee from BCI. Do you recall what exchange rate they used, i.e. was it the middle rate that you could get on xe.com or oanda. If it were a fixed $75 it would be a bad deal for $1,000 but a bad deal for $10,000. I'm also in...

Re: TransferWise Charging 3%-4% Now

I dont know who you bank with outside, but I transfer US$ from HSBC to a US$ account I have with BCI and they charge US$75 if I remember correctly. Then no charges when the funds are received in Chile. Then I can change US$ to CLP whenever I want in BCI . Maybe I’m over cautious, but have been aroun...

Re: LATAM cancellations and refunds

I had no problems at all in getting a refund transferred directly to my bank account. This option was very clear on Latam website. What maybe could cause confusion is that you are offered a voucher, but it clearly stated that you could use the voucher or cash it in for a refund.

I did a quick round on portal inmobiliario today and there are almost no new appartments for sale here in Providencia. Its definitely a renters market in the big city. :)
Providencia doesnt have any good available land to build on except maybe away from where people want to be. Try El Golf

Re: Quarentines and fines

I read yesterday that although it could cause traffic holdups, they were going to check every vehicle on the roads out of Stgo. However, on the news today, they said only 7700 checks were carried out, which doesnt jibe with the number of vehicles that left?

Re: Housing market situation

The parking prices sound about right for the area, compared with around 15 million in say Nueva Las Condes. My doubt about those in Vitacura is the rentability. In Nueva Las Condes you can be pretty sure they’ll be rented continuously. The apartment in Nunoa for its size and location, I would say wa...

Re: Market crash! We have another Black Monday

I saw that Cencosud is at its lowest since 2004. Assuming that people will start buying stuff in the not too distant future, maybe it’s not a bad time to invest ?
