Re: Name in Visa written in ink

When I went to Mexico for the first time in 1997, I had no passport. I found that I needed it to do things like opening a bank account, etc so off I went to the embassy to get one. This was back in the day when they issued passports in less than an hour. I applied using the Jr on my name and when I ...

Re: Moving to Chile with our teenagers

Understand also that the world is getting much smaller, it's possible to study online for a degree from a US university. Many state universities(proprietary schools are scams IMHO) offer 100% online degrees at affordable prices. Heck, you can even study mechanical engineering online from University ...

Re: Border Crossings

On a side note, let us know if they are charging the repricocity fee on the Argentina side. I was checking for flights on Expedia the other day and they have a warning up. They said that since Dec 20th, Argentina has been collecting the fee on people entering Argentina.

Re: Salt

Why not try looking for Kosher salt. I was at the supermarket yesterday and I thought about this thread. Checked out the different salts and even the sea salt had an anticaking agent. The only one that listed it's only ingredient as salt was the kosher salt. Just one question, is there anything wron...

Re: EXPATS..that want to vanish...a simple how to...

I guess it all depends on how deep you want to disappear. There are varying levels of privacy and there are different means to reach the desired level. If you just want to drop out of mainstream society, that's pretty easy. If you are on the lam from the law, that takes more, proportional to the lev...

Re: Panama - new tourist visa laws

I used t Timatic Database which is what the airlines use. http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/international_travel_information/visa_passport_information/ For South African citizens, it says this: Visa required, except for Those holding a visa for Australia, Canada, U.S.A. or a Eur...

Re: The Presidential Election Bet - Anyone?

Ok, no one has the balls to do this(and possibly be completely wrong) so I will.

- Piñera: 52%
- Frei: 21%
- Enríquez-Ominami: 22%
- Arrate: 5%

No run off needed.

Re: Better to Get Married to a Chilena in the US or in Chile?

If a) Your Chilena is already in the US and b) she didn't come to the US with the intention of getting married and c) she has been in the US at least 30 days then there shouldn't be any problem just getting married and filing for adjustment of status. Right now USCIS is taking about 3 to 5 months to...

Re: Why ALLCHILE member moved to Chile? Why am I?

So, what other country would you live in? What are the serious alternatives to Chile? I think Asia is completely off the list. I know you, admin, can comment on this, but in Asia, no matter how much you learn the language and the culture, you will ALWAYS be the foreigner. It's hard to fit and make ...

Re: Why ALLCHILE member moved to Chile? Why am I?

I've read and walked away from this thread 3 times so far and I'm compelled to keep coming back so I'm just going to say it and get it over with. Chile is not better then the US! The US is not better then Chile, period. There is probably less of what you term "freedom" here then in the states. You ...

Re: Better to Get Married to a Chilena in the US or in Chile?

If she stays out of the US longer than 1 year, she'll technically need a re-entry permit from the US Embassy. Out longer than 2 years and it's even more difficult. Being back in the US can mean just a simple flight to the US and turn around and fly back. You could send her on a supply run to keep he...
