Re: Moving to Chile in a few months, and I have a few Q's

My wife and I have got 3 kids and we have bounced around quite a bit. We have always moved with what we could carry ourselves on the plane. When we went to China, for example, we went with two Jansport Carson external frame packs, two mid-sized duffle bags and a small carryon backpack for each of us...

That is not true. They had them in the area and they used them.

Re: Ebola watch

I'd be more concerned with the thousands of soldiers Obama is sending their to fight Ebola will be the ones to bring it back in mass.

Re: The State of the States

You all are a bunch of expats and not on the ground in the US, you don't know the reality of the terror we face day to day. Our police need drones, tactical vehicles and other tools of war in order to fight the criminal elements. They need to be put in check and our people need to be protected. We n...

Re: world cup 2014

Happy Bday Kkmett! Chile on the other hand was lucky. They had the opportunity to go for the jugular when they were up 2-0 and they blew it. They needed the points which they got but they also needed the goal difference. Now they will have a pissed off Spain to deal with and if they play like they ...

Re: Verizon Iphone 5s

I wouldn't rely on being able to forward your GV calls and texts to your Chilean number. What you can do is use the GV app to send text messages and use the Hangouts app to make and receive calls.....but that just requires data.

Re: 52 million photos in FBI database

FBI database will contain 52 million photos, including most that do not have a criminal context. Any FBI background check for a job requiring a photo, passport, and so on could get you in the "FBI facebook" that is searched every time they are looking for a criminal suspect or, well, just you. http...

Re: Northern 4 islands return

China could use all the NG from Russia once destined to EU but all Chinese energy producing meachanism infrascture have been built around the technology to burn coal instead of NG. So there is a little good use even Russia wanting to sell their NG cheapely to them, thus Putin aiming to Japan but at...

Re: Civil registry office announced just for foreigners

Forgot to add, I'm almost certain this woman was taking bribes to process immigration paperwork. People are a fool to think it doesn't happen in the US and after 15 years living in bribe prone countries, she was sending all the signals.

Re: Civil registry office announced just for foreigners

Oh no doubt, Donnybrook. At my wife's interview we had an interviewer from hell. She was a Filipina who spoke barely understandable English. (My wife is from the Philippines). I almost stopped her and asked her if she needed to conduct the interview in Tagalog. She was as stupid as a typical governm...

Ah Donnybrook, but you said anyone :) I wasn't disagreeing with your general premise that it's very difficult to deal with US immigration, just that your "anyone" comment may not be correct. Just having a little fun nitpicking your words.

Re: 3G Router ( modem) suggestions please!

The router I am talking about is not a dongle, and does not plug in to the side of a laptop. This small " black box" is plugged into an electrical outlet and "grabs" the 3G signal out of the ether, which it then broadcasts wirelessly throughout the house - WiFi !!! We can use up to 5 devices on it ...
