Re: Hello from Pinguin

I think I agree with pinguin. Chile is a country rich in natural resources and a lot could be done with value added products. Not having the technology is no reason, because technology and manufacturing equipment can be imported. Chilean students can be sent to the best technology schools to bring t...

Re: Earthqueake manual

Even though the time for a tsunami to arrive can vary, I think it is very good advice to head for higher ground as fast as you can move. Then stay there. Chile has earthquakes and they have a strong history of tsunami. If there is a quake while you are at the coast, get yourself to higher ground pro...

Re: Republicans slam Chilean miners and rescue

If that is seen as funny, I generally approve of humor. But I have not heard even a single word disrespecting the mine rescue from anyone, and I watch a lot of news for several different sources and view points. Everyone in the USA has been thrilled about it. Take it as humor, but don't use somethin...

Re: Marrying and moving to Chile:)

There are a couple of posters on this forum who are occasionally grumpy. They are posters who give lots of good information, so ignore the grumpiness and take the information.

Re: The Advantages for a Chilean marrying an American

I can't think of any reason to not learn what marriage involves before getting married. Closing your eyes and jumping might be romantic, but it sure leads to a lot of unnecessary pain later. I also recommend doing some minimal background checking and running a credit report on a prospective spouse. ...

eeuu, remove his links and don't allow him to post any new ones. If his only purpose is to spam, he will go away because he is not getting anything from being here. Are we voting? I'm not seeing any spam, so if Onlinebusiness wants to hang out with us and learn about Chile or practice his English, let him. He's been told that if he advertises or sends spam, he will be removed. If he wants to visit without advertising, well, there are several persons with busine...

Re: What should I bring to a Chilean BBQ?

I would guess that US style desserts would be a hit. I've never seen anyone turn down a toll house cookie.

Apple crisp is easy to make in a large batch

Re: Bringing my dog to UK without quarantine

I've sent a dog to the UK from the USA on a pet passport. It went smoothly, but the timing for all the requirements is quite specific. So, if you try it, make sure you understand exactly what must be done and when. It might be possible to take the dog to Europe, and then through the chunnel into Bri...

Unless the Chilean is already legally in the USA, the application for the green card must be made in a country where the spouse legally resides.

Re: Green card

The green card allows you to enter into and remain in the USA. The green card also allows you to work legally in the USA. The green card is accepted in lieu of a passport at some border crossings. It definitely gets you through any border patrol checkpoint. It also starts the clock ticking towards q...

Re: Poll: Do you feel unsafe living in Santiago?

Of course Santiago is unsafe. It's a huge city. All huge cities, all over the world, are unsafe.

Just exactly how unsafe depends upon your level of street smart and your luck.
