Re: Late 2016 - LATAM Chile booking question (from outside Chile)

I think the person on the LATAM helpline was probably an American, certainly not a Chilean or even a Latin American, as he could not pronounce any of the city names here that he reeled off as being "my nearest LATAM offices" - nor did he have any idea of the geography. So perhaps it follows that his...

Re: Late 2016 - LATAM Chile booking question (from outside Chile)

TRobo, Your suggestion sounds a bit more complicated than my final solution, but I will keep it in mind for future flights. EEexpat and John, I only tried a Visa cc. Perhaps I might have had some more luck with a MasterCard. But the issue of the Mac vs PC still amazes me if it is true. And its worth...

Re: Late 2016 - LATAM Chile booking question (from outside Chile)

OK, so I tried Chrome Incognito, and a VPN - Unblock-us , and continued to have the same problem when it came time to process the payment. By that stage I thought I would have to go to the LAN office in Curico to complete the purchase ( at the higher Chilean price for the tickets plus US$35 each for...

Re: Late 2016 - LATAM Chile booking question (from outside Chile)

So now I am about to give up on my trip to Colombia! I have been trying for the last few hours to PAY for the selected flights online via the LAN websites in both Chile and in Canada with absolutely no luck at all. After in-putting all requested info re- dates, flights, personal info and credit card...

Re: descaler for espresso machine

I have just used vinegar to successfully restore my inexpensive little espresso machine back to working order!!! Had to repeat the process twice, but it worked and there is no lingering vinegar smell.

Air travel from SCL to Colombia in Feb/March 2017

I have been checking out flights from SCL to Bogota and then on to Cartagena. We are planning a short family reunion in Cartagena and then some further travel within Columbia ( Cali, Medellin, Bogota, Villa de Leyva, Barichara, for example ) before returning to SCL about a month later. So far my res...

Re: Paying customs duties at airport

We just came through SCL a week ago with 7 kilos of roasted coffee beans in sealed retail packaging, as we do every year. Always declare them on the form. No problems so far. I suspect the key is that the beans are roasted - same issue with nuts, they must be roasted - incinerates any possible bicho...

Re: Help Me Find Things Please (The Lack of Amazon)

Can only help you with the water filter. 'Easy' in our local town carried them last time I was there. Brand name " Brita", they also sell the replacement filters. Tho it might be cost-effective to bring a few filters back with you when you return from the UK. I thought they seemed kinda expensive in...
