Re: Chilean border's to open to tourist, none-residents

Sorry, I missed the very helpful responses from Donnybrook and Jamers41. I see light at the end of the tunnel thanks to you all. Flying has never been fun, but now with all the (justifiable) Covid19 precautions it has become so very complicated.

Re: Chilean border's to open to tourist, none-residents

That’s funny...and exactly what I feared would be the case from past experience with government tramites. But I hoped against hope. So we will arrive with expired Covid test results that will most probably mean that we will be told to quarantine for 14 days, or at least until we can get a test done ...

Re: Chilean border's to open to tourist, none-residents

Does anybody know if an emailed test result would be accepted at the airport upon arrival? Due to the time lag between testing and receiving the results here, followed by the 24 hour travel time between Canada and Chile, the only way to have them not time-out before arrival would be to have the resu...

Re: Chilean border's to open to tourist, none-residents

As a permanent resident who has their home in the VII Region, would I be able to quarantine in my home, if my ( presumably negative) PCR Covid test has expired before I land at SCL? I ask because in Ontario where we will be leaving from, the health authorities who do the testing cannot guarantee the...

Re: Favorite Restaurants

I absolutely agree - Baco is a great restaurant by any standards. As is Fuegos de Apalta, the Francis Mallman resto in the Montes vineyard near Santa Cruz. la Boca in Pichilemu was delish a couple of years ago, and hopefully hasn’t changed. A good little Peruvian on Vitacura is El Otro Puerto Callao...

Re: chip your animals!!!

Had to take one of our dogs to the vet today, so we had him chipped! 10,000 pesos for a neutered male. We and our dogs are fortunate that we can afford this new “tax”. We still have to go through the registration process and wonder what a frustration that will be. We take care of our dogs, have them...

Re: Need advice buying a new cell phone to bring to Chile

Update re: ridiculous homologacion issue. Yes, imported phones using a local SIM must be regi...

Re: Need advice buying a new cell phone to bring to Chile

Reference Homologation... A weird expressions! Last November we registered a Costco-bought cellphone with no problems at all. All,that was required was a clear photocopy of the purchase receipt. As I remember, the receipt had a fair amount of info on it about both the phone and the name of the purch...

Re: Need advice buying a new cell phone to bring to Chile

Admin, do I understand correctly that an unlocked phone that works with one national carrier in Chile, will work with all the national carriers? I thought that there were some differences between the frequencies used by Claro, Entel etc. I would be happy to be wrong, it would make this purchase a lo...

Need advice buying a new cell phone to bring to Chile

I need help with figuring out the compatability of an unlocked Samsung S9+ North American Model,(SM-G965WZAAXAC) that I can buy in Canada, with the Entel network, which is the only one servicing our rural area in Chile. This phone would need to act as a hotspot for all our internet and 3G/4G require...
