Denied Movistar Satellite TV Contract???
Today I was denied a contract for Movistar TV because my "risk evaluation " score of 760 was too high ( or perhaps itwas too low!) What on earth is this evaluation based on? And why now am I inelligble for a service that I have had several times in the past? Each year for the past 3 years we have ha...

Re: Taking Snacky Food into Chile
just arrived at SCL today from Canada with lots of coffee , tea, and a variety of commercially sealed and labelled, mixed spices from Montreal Steak Spice, to Mixed Italian and Mixed Indian Pickle spice mix, amd Garam Masala. I declared it on the Sag form and then quickly and efficiently produced a ...

Re: Taking Snacky Food into Chile
How about nuts? Like pistachios, almonds, etc. Would they be allowed if sealed? Likely not, our visiting family have had them taken away at SCL ... As others have said, nuts and so forth can easily be bought in Chile. We try to bring only things that we are sure are not contraversial, cannot be eas...

Re: Taking Snacky Food into Chile
Oh and one more thing ... cheese and meat products such as air- dried ham, salamis or jerky are a no- no. Generally, I would say, forget any animal products.

Re: Taking Snacky Food into Chile
I second that, Absolutely NO honey or bee-related products! And no plant-material or nuts, or seeds, etc . No loose, unpackaged or opened food items. But most other food items that are packaged/sealed commercially AND declared on the form you get on the plane before you enter, are OK. My advice is t...

Re: Cell Phone Service & Buying Car w/o RUT
Thanks for the clarification, ZerOnz, we are just about to return to Chile after a summer in Canada ... and to the hassles of getting TV and Internet up and running again, so I will follow your advice. Though getting agents to our (remote) locale may be tricky!

Re: Cell Phone Service & Buying Car w/o RUT
We definitely were not alone in this, our experience with Movistar has been shared by others in Curico ... and incidentally, for the same reason, we could not get " store cards" from Jumbo or Lider either, until we got the magic "permanencia". That was particularly galling given how much money we co...

Re: Cell Phone Service & Buying Car w/o RUT
Not sure whether the rules have changed in the past 2 years but we could not contract for either cell phone plans or TV or Internet plans until we received our Permanencias. Even though we had a fully-fledged Bank account in Chile including credit cards. Contrary to logic however, during our initial...

Re: Spotted ... pudding
T_Robo ... I think the word you were looking for was "dick" ! Yes, the name of the 'pud' still causes much uproarious laughter from non-Brits. But, I digress; on the subject of Worcestershire Sauce, has anyone ever seen Motts Clamato Juice for sale in Chile ??? All this cheap vodka and the prime ing...

Re: Wine Journal II
Had a great bottle of Matetic EQ Syrah (2009) in a restaurant the other night ... first time we have tried any wine from this vinyard. Is it available in Jumbo or Lider? Or only from the vinyard bodega? Hope we can find some for home consumption. Highly recommended !!!
