Re: Qualifications

I've tried a local headhunter to find new jobs, etc. No luck yet.

What/who are the "gringo headhunters"? Any contact information for them would be appreciated.

I've heard there's a free software download called Hotspot Shield: hotspotshield.com or anchorfree.com

Reviewed by PC Magazine and others...looks pretty doable.

Re: Brasil visas and yellow fever vaccinations

Hey there Cobi I'm a US citizen and had to get a visa for Brazil-it was a pretty straightforward process. It took one week from the time I turned in the necessary paperwork and payment at the office located at 225 Mac Iver, 15th floor. Visa was about 99,000 chilean pesos and the visa is multiple ent...

Re: Pollution and solutions - your stories please...

Over the past year or so I've just had to ask the bagger to put the goods in my backpack "without plastic bags please", leave a tip, hop on the bike, and it's fresh mariscos in the pot before you know it. After some time I started to meet most of the bagger crew. The second/third time around, when a...

Re: good experience with VTR

We must have caught VTR in a good mood the last 16 months, because their service has been pretty good (they've even shown up early for service calls, handily beating US cable providers). Admin, that's hilarious, you essentially contract all the majors, then internally manage service based on provide...

Re: Kettlebell

Good posts. Mall Sport in Santiago (technically in Las Condes I think) is good for some yoga specialty and also Everlast type equipment (free weights, etc) among some other goodies. It's a little pricey because of the heavy shipping costs and target market there. I've even seen free weights in Jumbo...

Re: Pedestrian Traffic

Yeah, I basically treat the streets of Santiago like dodge 'em and walk around people. If I recall the last time I was in a Mall in the US, most people in Malls in the US walk like all Chileans on the streets of Santiago: slow and random. So I do the dodge and swerve routine. Crossing the street, I ...

Re: Earthquake 2010 Main Thread and Forum News

Hello all, I'm thrilled to see Charles and everyone pulling together after this major shocker. I hope people are reunited and the aftershocks stop! People really seem to be supporting each other. We talked to an elderly woman in the building that seemed out of sorts. She was happy to have someone to...

Re: Argentina - they didn't learn last time

Yeah, low likelihood that Chile will look guilty by association - Chile is leagues beyond Argentina. Argentina will just huff and puff about this debacle and Chavez too, but the rigs will pump on. Good article in The Economist sums up how lame the Kirchners are being: http://www.economist.com/opinio...

Re: Argentina - they didn't learn last time

"Some one just needs to surface a nuclear sub off the coast of Argentina sufficiently long to be spotted, and that should put a muzzle on the neighbors dog for a few more years." Hilariously worded, and true. Subs - oh, you mean "the security escort"; you know, can't be too careful with all those pi...
