Re: OSAMA BIN LADEN DEAD

It's very simple: if OBL is not dead, then his next video would be one heck of a whopper, hardly a risk any of his nemeses are willing to take. The ball's in OBL's court now on that one if he's alive. In the longer-term, his death will not diminish business as usual from any players. They all still ...

Re: New U.S.A. airport screening

Could the parents of all the children that this has happened to just file a class action or a mass action lawsuit? Is TSA just showing their understanding of the terms unbiased, does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, ethnicity....? Hmm, they might also want to consider the term "discretion"...

Re: Kettlebell

Rugal, those handles look like a good idea. It's nice to have a solid set though, especially if you're trying to sell 'em, wink wink. Guess we'll have to stick to the free weights and surrounding mountains for a good time. El P, a wreath of little donuts, not come on, seriously. Although a frosted c...

Re: The Obama Administration

That's all the Argentinian Government's going to complain about? I'll bet the people of Argentina have got more to complain about.

Re: Car accident - legal implications for driver

This would be a great topic to be linked somehow to the horrible driver topic that was circulating before. As a pedestrian around Santiago (at other times I'm a driver as well, as I'm sure, vice versa, the shabby drivers of Santiago are pedestrians sometimes too and so might relate), I see this hapl...

Re: Kettlebell

Hello sports fans Has anyone figured out the Kettlebell source in Chile? I haven't seen them pop up on the market in the past year, but I'm advising on a sports/fitness deal here in Chile, the kettlebell question actually came up again in that form, and I remembered this original forum thread. I thi...

Re: wikileaks cablegate Chile

"Supposedly there is a cable floating around in which they describe Pinera as being some sort of corrupt buisness mogul that will stop at nothing to do get what he wants. Still have not found that cable, but looking" Three cables up on the wikileaks site from Santiago Embassy released on 12-27-10. A...

Re: New U.S.A. airport screening

Got to springboard off one of Admin's comments about large airport security lines as a target and the Israeli approach. A Washington Post article I just caught highlights that same risk (excerpts below). Interestingly enough, the article goes on to state that TSA is using some half-baked exercise in...

Re: Chile - country of innovation

So, what are thoughts out there on the reason for lack of investment in R&D in Chile? Are we talking an oligopoly-type situation in which a few big boy owners are content with their markup on imported goods to the extent that R&D just isn't worth the expense? Why would I invent something, I've alrea...

Re: Santiago vs Mendoza Winery Tours

What's the Santiago winery tour? Is that Concha y Toro et al? Mendoza wineries are pretty nice. If you go there, Vines of Mendoza is a nice place to start, get an intro to the region. Santa Cruz has a lot to offer too (I preferred it to Mendoza) and worth the drive to visit Casa LaPostolle and many ...

Re: New U.S.A. airport screening

Exactly, hence why I put it as "officer", with a certain...tonality that needs to go along with the word ;) the official name is silly and is part of the authority game, their want of more perceived authority to blast off in their attitudinal displays. Or we could just sum it all up as the late Geor...

Re: New U.S.A. airport screening

Thanks for starting this thread - really interesting/troubling affront to what used to be swift (and safe) air travel. Made apparent by the various experiments, including in the farmwars link that greg~judy posted, the TSA policy and extent of their authority is absent at best. The cops know what's ...
