Re: holidaze in hawaii...

lovely snark. the point is???? The point is he's an insufferable, narcissistic ass surrounded by sycophants like Valerie Jarrett: "John Fund on the President's senior advisor: Whether Jarrett’s influence is all too real or exaggerated is unknowable. What is known is the extent to which she has long...

Re: Chile is very lenient for new life seekers

A retiree doesnt take a job away from a local, he needs to live, ie needs food, services etc. which creat jobs for others. He brings in funds with no cost to the country etc etc. What NZ does offer that Chile doesnt, are no inheritance taxes, no capital gains taxes, which depending on your circumst...

Re: USD/CLP: Please Say a Prayer for Better Rates

The FED is risking a gigantic deflationary collapse Maybe similar to the collapse in 2008 where in preceding months the Fed told us: "subprime is contained...we've never had a decline in house prices on a national basis...the GSEs are adequately capitalized"? And afterwards Bernanke told us "I wish...

Re: Movistar Prepago - can I combine Internet + SMS bolsas?

Bring your iPhone. Buy a prepago SIM card. It will not work for data. Wherever you seek help, they will sell you another SIM card, and the new chip will not get you on the network because you will lack some credential, tax number, address, etc., etc. Repeat this run-around as often as you like. Wifi...

Re: Brilliant solution to the debt crisis?

Currency in circulation is a small part of the total money supply. Most money is digital. There is no practical limit to how big the numbers can get. Just add more zeroes. Computers can hold a lot of zeroes. True, available debt spends just like currency. For the USD and other major currencies the ...

Re: Brilliant solution to the debt crisis?

Yes, the Federal Reserve is on (to) something. Through the miracle of QE it now takes only $14 of injected debt "stimulus" to create one dollar of economic growth. I see Janet Yellen doubling-down on this awesome program - Utopia here we come!

Yes to Seeger! Oddly enough I was just listening to him lead off with that fantastic chord on Sixteen Tons.

For thousands of years Arsenic was a medicine. With a few rule changes and some television and print advertising, this water project could turn into a resource for big Pharma. And don't forget that Boron makes some excellent rocket fuels. :alien:

Re: Paypal and multicaja

Rumors flying here that eBay/PayPal is getting real chummy with BitCoin and Google is looking too. A combination like that will certainly shake things up in the banking world. It would be the equivalent of what the Internet and email did to the market for FAX machines. I was in San Jose last month a...

Re: Chile vs USA Meat Cuts, SAG/USDA official version

Wagyu beef is one of the latest hipster ingredients and it's showing up on trendy restaurant menus at ridiculous prices. My guess is 90% of the meat old as "Wagyu" is really just sliced prime rib. I find the mouth texture of Wagyu unpleasant compared to a "real" steak.

Re: Obamacare bomb

Point 3, where did you read that? If you read the form, if 13a is answered as NO as well as 13b, then you are still a non-resident and exempt. Only if you answered YES to 13a and NO to 13b are you hit. "Answered YES to 13a" -- as in living there on a (perpetually-renewed) tourist visa? How many Ame...

Re: Obamacare bomb

The ACA is rolling out and it is now in the face of anyone ever issued a social security number. Those living abroad might assume they are exempt from this mess of regulations but the IRS has weighed in with new rules and tests for exemption status. The devil is in the details. According to the IRS,...
