Re: USD/CLP: Please Say a Prayer for Better Rates

All eyes are on China and its faltering "growth", with Argentina, Columbia, and Brazil in the mix. Chile gets hammered because it has significant exports to China and its economy is in the shadow of the two giants in SA. Argentina is the crazy aunt living in the basement that might set the house on ...

Re: Rant~Ire toward LAN Chile

As one who has thrown several jabs at AA as per EEUU :-) Also, LAN are a Spanish-speaking airline and I've only ever spoken Spanish to them, even dealing with their Miami office. It just makes things easier, one obstacle less. If you're only comfortable speaking English then an English-speaking air...

Re: Rant~Ire toward LAN Chile

I will chime in with a positive customer service experience - from the Miami offices of LAN. I had purchased tickets online, it was late night, and I made a stupid mistake on a travel date. The next day I caught the mistake and thought #*%!, they are going to hit me with a itinerary change fee. I ca...

Re: Way around weak Chile LAN site multi-destination feature

It looks like the U.S. LAN site still offers the SA Airpass promotion, here is the link to get to the booking section: http://www.lan.com/en_us/sitio_personas/southamericanairpass/index.html?otid=894743&s_cid=onsite2013_US_20130515_home_banner_saa To qualify for the cheap segment airfares all you ne...

Re: Living in Chile with UK Bank Account and Credit Cards

The mouse print on most banking agreements gives them unilateral rights to adjust credit limits, cancel cards, or close accounts at their discretion. With the larger institutions the account evaluation process is mostly automated and completely opaque -- I would put little faith in anything told to ...

Re: Welcome to Chile chuckle of the day

They should have asked for espresso instead of cafe con leche. In Chile they take a demitasse cup and fill it from the dregs of a coffee urn, usually leftover from the previous day. It's dark, rich, and oh-so flavorful. :alien:

Re: Some LAN.com questions, please share experiences

Question to those who have recently used the USA site, was your credit card processed as an overseas transaction (accrued a foreign fee if applicable) or was it processed in dollars by a domestic USA card processor and thus not subject to a foreign fee? The Tc & Cs indicate Transbank S.A. is the pr...

Re: food for thought...?

Chile is on its way to developed status, but how will we know when it has finally arrived and joined that select group of nations where "it's all good"? A crazy-quilt of product labeling and consumer protection laws from various .gov agencies is just the start. In order to really get he train moving...

Re: VISA WAIVER PROGRAM

Y'all come on up! Uncle Sam needs Chileans to bring up the average IQ for Latinos here in the EEUU. States like Nevada and Kolyfonia are giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens, but they have to first pass a written test. Even though the test is offered in Spanish, about 70% of the Mexicans are so...

Yes of course, and that is one of the reasons NZ makes it difficult to become a permanent resident.
