As for building credit and accounts, you can start a buisness in Chile or just initiate activities as a professional. I took Pullman recently from Valdivia to Talca and wasn't impressed. We paid for semi-cama, but it wasn't. It was really cramped and we stopped CONSTANTLY. The trip ended up taking 9 hours.

The original post is kind of old, but I thought I would share some info I found out in case it helps someone. I am starting to plan a trip there later this month. There are some cabañas for rent in Pan de Azúcar NP. The number is 52-21 92 71.

I got my license in La Reina a few years ago and it was really easy. I wasn't asked for most things on the list. I just had to show my California driver's license, which they took a copy of, and my ID card. After that I took the eye test and those weird coordination tests and they issued the license...

Just wanted to give a quick introduction - I'm originally from the US, I've lived here in Chile for 6 years this time and also was here from '93 to '95. I live in Santiago (La Reina). I do market research on Chilean consumer markets for a company based in the UK.
