Re: Argentina reciprocity

Me neither, EEUU. Beyond just the money, the online system sounds so disorganized. If you pay and it has a glitch, it sounds like you may not be able to print out proof of payment. It's just not worth it, especially considering I have been many times before. I have a friend I want to visit in BA, bu...

I was wondering that too, El Lechero. I guess some people like hot, humid tropical-type climates. However, I am definitely not one of them. I can visit, but after a few weeks I am over it. Too many years living in California and Chile, I guess.

Doesn't have Honduras have the highest murder rate in the world? If not, it's 2nd or 3rd. Interesting that crime/safety issues aren't even a factor in the ranking.

Re: Stock up on normal light bulbs quick!!

Thanks for the heads up. We switched back to normal bulbs after having too many problems with the engergy saving ones. In our house, for some reason, the energy saving ones always die more quickly.

Re: House for sale in Pisco Elqui

Santiago-La Serena is about 6-7 hours, and I don't think the bus from La Serena to Pisco Elqui takes more than an hour and a half. Definitely shorter than 12 hours.

Re: Citizenship waiting times

I went to Extranjería to drop off the last few things. The letter said to go to the 2nd floor. They person there sent me to the 3rd floor. I showed them my letter and they gave me a number. The paper the number was on said Residencia , but none of the areas there said anything about Nationalization,...

Re: Rabies - Verorab in Santiago?

The four dose course is usually started off with a separate dose of immune globulin. Of course, they don't have that here. So you just get the 4 dose course instead. I didn't get the immune globulin either, since even when I did most of the treatment in the US, the first shot was here in Chile. The...

Re: Rabies - Verorab in Santiago?

The incident above was the second time I had an animal bite in Chile. The first time happened quite a while ago when I was just here as a tourist. I was bitten the day before I had to leave for the US. So, I got the first shot here and the rest in the US. I remember something similar to what you men...

Re: Rabies - Verorab in Santiago?

Yeah, it is a state-run clinic. I am a resident, although I don't recall them ever asking for me for my Chilean ID. I did the first shot at the Clínica Santa María, looking at their website they have it: http://www.clinicasantamaria.cl/vacunatorio/vacunas.html#viajero . The Universidad Católica also...

Re: Rabies - Verorab in Santiago?

I had to go through the post-rabies exposure shots after being bitten here in Santiago. I initially went to the Clínica Santa María emergency room. After that, they told me I cold get the rest of the shots at my the Vacunatorio in my municipality's Consultorio . I finished up the treatment there. It...

Re: Registro Civil on Christmas Eve?

I went today and it turned out to be a great time to go. The place was empty and I was in and out in under 2 minutes. They closed at 11, though.
