Re: Expats in Concepcion, Chile

I know several Chileans from Concepción and none of them live there there, nor do they want to. So, that doesn't give me a very positive perception of the place.

Re: Colombia ATM question

I found receipts from Colpatria and BBVA. Both say Comisión $0. This was with a Schwab One debit card. My husband said that he also remembers no fee at BBVA. Re: Colombia ATM question

I was just there in September, but don't quite remember the fees. I will take a look to see if I still have any of the ATM receipts and post any information I find.

Re: New Claro multimedia stuff?

Phone numbers are supposedly portable these days. I switched companies and kept the same number. However, when I wanted to go from prepay to a plan within the same company, they told me I couldn't keep my number for inexplicable reasons.

Re: Check in USA

My mom used to send personal checks to me here. I maintain a US bank account, so I would mail them certified to my bank and they would be deposited. These days, my mom sends them to my sister since there is a branch of my bank near her work and my sister deposits them. And, I agree with the above, c...

Re: Buying a second hand car

Here in the US, many _used car buyers_ will resort to the " car fax " to get ahold of an used car history and records which mostly showing: Accidents, repairs done, etc.etc. Dosen't Chile have such services? If purchasing the target vehicle from a factory authorised used vehicle yard, doesn't the g...

Re: Welcome to Chile chuckle of the day

I am with you admin. If I am going to swim in the ocean, it has to be warm. Even in the north of Chile or south of California, I barely go in up to my knees and I shudder seeing people on the central coast here swimming.. We were in Colombia last September and I did swim in Tayrona National Park. Th...

A simple google search would have also informed him about the air and water temperatures. He definitely didn't do his research.

Re: Chicureo 2014

I haven't been for ages, but the last few times, after they moved from Ñuñoa to Providencia were underwhelming, so we stopped going. I know I saw some posts on here too indicating that other people had bad experiences. I know they bought the business next door and it seems like only one of the origi...

Re: Welcome to Chile chuckle of the day

I also think Viña is overrated as a tourist destination and wouldn´t want to spend 8 straight days there. There are more interesting places. However, I found it amusing that they held San Francisco up as if it were some bastion of cleanliness. San Francisco would win the urine smelling sweepstakes. ...
