Re: U.S. Election 2008 and Chile

Re: U.S. Election 2008 and Chile

well, there IS a difference between obama and mccain.....mccain is in bed with the neocons and has essentially the same foreign policy and economic policy as bush. obama understands that whatever we were were trying to accomplish in iraq has failed and we need to get out, and that the wealthy people...

Re: Chile and the International Economic Crisis

Some members in this forum have expressed a concern that Chilean society is changing to resemble US society...in a negative way....and there is evidence to support this view....but I can see that the reverse process is also taking place...also in a negative way. Re: Chile and the International Economic Crisis

i think it is important to realize that the "consumerism" and "greed" that we observe in US society is not an exclusively "American" trait.....the US is simply the place where these human traits are most visible. We see the same excesses among the wealthy of any society, and as more and more people ...

Re: Chile and the International Economic Crisis

this leads to an important point....there IS an upside to all of this.....more efficiency in the economy and therefore better use of the earth's resources, more humanistic values, a better understanding of global interdependence.....not to get carried away with sappy forecasting....because we are hu...

Chilean Universities

I think this is a unique thread...if it isn't please direct to me to the existing thread. I am in the process of applying to the University of Chile to sharpen my Spanish and develop a network of contacts in the field of education. Does anyone have any experience with "La U" or any any other univers...

Re: Chile and the International Economic Crisis

Re: Chile and the International Economic Crisis

the stock market had a huge day yesterday (monday....record gains). it seems that investors like the idea of governments around the world socializing the banking system. i am sure that it grates against a few people, like people who truly believe in the "free market" and people who are paranoid of "...

Re: Chile and the International Economic Crisis

several writers on this forum have commented on my statement that "my job is safe" and "my pension is safe". i understand that there are no iron-clad guarantees about anything in the world of finance. i understand that my pension fund may be slightly affected by the current market turmoil. but i als...
