Re: Where? Registering US Marriage Certificate in Chile

Thanks Wineman!

As a follow up, we heard that some Registro Civil offices in Santiago address the registration of foreign marriage certificates and others do not.

We were also told we could not register it in Puerto Montt - that it had to be in Santiago.

Any first person reports appreciated!

Where? Registering US Marriage Certificate in Chile

Would anyone happen to know where (Office? Department?) in Santiago we need to register our US Marriage Certificate (legalized, notarized, etc.) A search of the board doesn't produce any meaningful results on location, and I'm not sure I've seen this one addressed since we started here in 2007. Any ...

Re: Criminal records required for Citizenship

Pretty much same arbitrarary reasons apply for this as fir stopping people from appealing rejected residency. We are looking in to a claim against the goverment over this, but that is not going to help anyone soon. Thanks for going to bat on this. We haven't really been in the US for anything more ...

Re: Surviving an operation & hospital stay in a public hospital

Thank you for sharing in detail your experience.

While I can't sympathize with a total knee, I do understand about the day to day recovery. Set a goal for each day.

We have friends who work at the hospital and will make inquires about rehab/PT.

Re: Archery

We all have recurve takedown bows and they see summer use, archery golf, etc. Arrows here are expensive so we usually bring them in our luggage from US trips. I was not questioned about broadheads and related hunting tips, but they were stored in a separate location from the arrows. Nothing much but...

Re: moving to osorno please help

We're in Puerto Montt and with The American School, but that doesn't help you in Osorno, about an hour to the north. Searching the forum should give you a lot of insight into the school system, but you'll want a private school and they should be able to respond to your requests for information now (...

Invitación a participar de Estudio Departamento de Extranjería y Migración - Universidad Diego Portales - Survey

We received this email today (see below). Curious if others received it, and/or how to get others to be able to respond with comments on the 20 day rule for citizenship, the banking issues, etc. The link is unique - doesn't reproduce when forwarded. FWIW/FYI/DYODH --- On Wed, 3/15/17, vballesteros (...

Re: New Citizenship requirements as of February 28

We're eligible in January 2018.

Number 9 represents a nearly impossible request with all the steps required for the document (USA) within the time frame.

Re: School admission process from outside Chile

FWIW it all depends - if you find an "international" school that serves foreigners you may find the process is considerably more straightforward. We know someone who made the Alaska to Talca move a couple years ago who might know. If it was Puerto Montt, I'd say the American School is pretty used to...
