Re: Building house in Chile the "gringo" way

Yes it would be more expensive, but much easier to import finished studs and trusses...... It is actually much much more expensive to bring assembled walls and trusses. Re: Don't be scared, be prepared.

I always have a bit of food stocked for earthquakes. Added a bit more over the last few weeks to tide me over if I need to hunker down. I am in a higher risk group so am cautious. But strange things have been swept from the supermarket shelves. I guess everyone has their own idea of basics. In case...

Re: Don't be scared, be prepared.

People should have already been stocking up to prepare for Part II of the social crisis. Let's see how Superlunes starts out the month then to the end of the month with Día del Joven Delinquente. Supposedly there will be 8 marches this month in San Antonio starting from the 2nd. I was not prepared ...

Don't be scared, be prepared.

I am always looking at people, who are buying anything in a panic with some sadness. Why people can't think a bit ahead? Why they wait so long and then when others are doing something, they get triggered and do the same? And this is happening with buying or selling, it does not matter. That is why m...

Re: Building house in Chile the "gringo" way

Yesterday had to deal with moving coils from local ferreteria where I was storing my first load of metal. I had to use them before I got my warehouse set up. I got tired of dealing with a lot of Chilean nonsense and decided to move all out from that place including MgO boards. That is why we had the...

I’m following as well and was waiting for the post-framing portion to start. I didn’t know about MgO boards before. So fire, mold and insect resistant...

Re: Building house in Chile the "gringo" way

As long as I know you are out there and enjoying it, I can share some... We loaded our MgO boards on the roof and I realized something. The metal frame above concrete is slightly over 7 tons. The boards that we got on the roof are over 7 tons also. It does not seem that way but the whole cladding of...
