Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

to Admin. So you are saying that from 22 May there is a total quarantine of all of Santiago. If possible, I need to make a trip to Santiago - just for a couple of hours. As I understand it, at this moment I need a pasaporte to cross the check points on ruta 5. However, I see that to reach Providenc...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

No surprises there I've been saying that for years , the Municipal system in Chile is a complete rort that needs rationalisation, and consolidation. So have I. Its not bitching for the sake of it. The longer you live here, the more shit you become aware of. Another example of extravagance, just loo...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

Parliamentary salaries are only the tip of the iceberg. Maximo displayed a link from Portal Transparencia detailing the wages of around 1400 employees of the Municipality of Santiago.. For those unfamiliar with regular Chilean wages, they are very generous. And many of these functionaries also clai...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

Obviously there’s no magic money tree, but given how much politicians earn in Chile, and how much assets they have, the amount of money the government seem to be able to throw at certain things when they want to (the costanera in Valdivia for example). I’m just saying there’s more money that could ...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Latercera reports Covid cards are 86'd. Jaime dodged a bullet with this one. I suspect the opposition senators gambit for his removal was a factor. He probably asked himself if he was feeling lucky lol and the silent response was deafening Of course the face saving reason is it could lead to discri...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

For a country such as Chile to be dishing out 100s of millions USD in bonos to its citizens is something that would have been unthinkable and impossible just a generation or two ago. And probably unsustainable long term. Exactly, yet still everyone wants more, where is coming from ? The lack of bas...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

It is pretty disgusting how much they earn and they’re giving what, a bono of 50 lucas to a small percentage of the population. It is a bit obscene what they earn, but it takes a special breed to be able to take that and still try for more. Chileans politicians are a special breed. As for the bono....

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

I joked to my wife I can tell the pilots that are not use to flying in the region, by how hard they hug the point where we live for navigation...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

only 3 months? Well look where things were 3 months ago versus now. Feb 6th... Agreed and my point exactly. The card is completely useless, so why make a big fuss about it? On the other hand, the reluctancy to declare full quarantine in RM might be the reason for the current situation where +80% of...
