Re: Speed Limit in Urban Areas Now 50

"Respect" for a speed limit only eventuates if it's being consistently enforced, and that ain't gonna happen!

Re: Getting a Chilean Driving License

There have been times I've simply pulled off the road to free myself from gaggles of idiot impatient drivers trying to outdo each other in escalating risk to themselves and other road users. It's still a very Third World attitude to road safety in Chile regardless what they might learn in the proces...

Yep, then that's the way it is. It's got me buggered why mobile expats want to complicate their lives with cats dogs or budgerigars.

Re: Getting a Chilean Driving License

Incredible....!!!. I think I read somewhere here on the forum years ago the only national drivers license directly transferable to Chile is South Korea, if true go figure the history on that one. The only South Korean I know of in Chile is the bloke who owns the 40+ "Doite" outlets.

Re: Export Pet Vet

Start from the Australian end, what do they want? Then work back this way from there. I can probably nut it out with a couple of vets in the family, they'll know someone in Santiago to instruct.

Re: Newbie

That'a a pretty broad request Kate. There're multiple places best avoided in every big city in the world. Do your research online and let travel common sense prevail. It's not rocket science. Santiago is not Chile just as Sydney is not Australia and nor is New York the USA.

Re: Electricity costs out in the country

The General Electric gas drier in the hotel last summer, going 12 hours a day a 45g gas bottle lasted 111 days including the gas stove. It depends on the ambient air temperature, now in winter it's about 20% less efficient but still a great decision financially. Same same with the reverse cycle air ...

Re: Electricity costs out in the country

You might consider a micro hydro system Matt. From memory you're on a river?

I googled it and these days it looks pretty straight forward plus far cheaper than an effective wind turbine. The big advantage is it generates 24/7.

Re: chile's migration crisis

Though food poisoning can be memorable "fun" when travelling. In reality it's available just about anywhere, 1st, 2nd or 3rd world countries. A rough tally for myself would be... Australia 3 times, seafood too far from the coast. I'm a sucker for seafood. India 2 times 2 years apart eating the same ...

Re: What would you want with land in Chile ?

Tried that before I posted and the link didn't open for me. Regardless, it's not generally used in professional real estate sales and I've never come across it. Perhaps occasionally used by the more bogan agents who might be found in Queensland. Some'll try anything to flog property and many a buyer...
