Re: Pesos and Protests

XE.com has USD-CLP =820.6 OANDA has USD= 779.3 https://www1.oanda.com/currency/converter/ Rueters UK has USD-CLP= 774.3 https://uk.reuters.com/quote/USDCLP Quite a spread 774 to 820. Who do you believe? Transferwise.com is now using Rueters quote where before today they were using XE.com quote.

This van of Carabineros were lucky to get out with their lives. A Molotov flies over and almost hits other protestors too. https://twitter.com/mmmoray/status/1194719513650061314?s=20 This Caribinera was not so lucky. https://www.eluniversal.com.mx/sites/default/files/styles/f03-651x400/public/2019/...

Re: lost certificado de permanencia definitiva

I seem to remember getting a temporary document when I got my first ID, but I don't remember what it was called. Otherwise, I'd just search on that. Registro Civil gives you a receipt which supposedly you can use as a temporary id. My new cedula arrived before I needed to find out if that is true o...

Re: Travel, permanent residency, expired carnet

Applied for renewal 6 weeks ago and still haven't received new carnet.Went to Extranjeria and was told no problem just leave and re-enter with your passport but it's PDI that makes the determination and I don't trust Extranjeria to actually know. Really don't want to find o...

Re: How will the protests affect our trip?

The situation has calmed quite a bit to generally normal but it can change in a matter of hours as evidenced a week ago Friday. Be prepared to wing if things change and definitely heed the advice given in the above posts. Buen viaje.
