UK Passport Photos

Afternoon All, Can anyone confirm where they got their passport photos for their new UK passport taken? From a quick search of the forum there was someone who used Unimarc in Tobalaba (presumably the one opposite Metro Tobalaba) but it doesn't confirm if these were accepted or not. Any tips with how...

Re: ATM fee

Yeah the two new farmacias near my place aren't installing cash machines. But the Liders I go to in irarrazabal and Macul still have them. Everywhere else is "out of order" from 2pm on Friday to 9 am o Monday!

Re: Concept of Time

I grew up in London and never even realised bus timetables even existed for London buses? I guess I always assumed that given the traffic levels it would just be impossible to even try... At least the on bus route I used to take regularly (25 Ilford to Oxford Circus) about 3 or 4 would turn up at th...

Re: Our Cost of Living - 2014

That is my wife's main gripe about Chile - far too expensive for the low quality goods and poor service you get compared to in Europe... she hasn't ever lived in Brazil though so I always remind her it's worse there when she starts complaining. So definitely a perspective thing! I do agree here it i...

Re: The Shining Star That Once Was Chile

At the risk of completely going off topic, I have to say I'm very surprised that Andrechi doesn't think Transantiago is a total disaster. I use it a couple of times a week, I think it is appalling, I'm not going to list all its shortcomings, especially considering that it is subsidized, and the fare...

Re: Mastercard issues today?

Thanks both. Yeah I think I was getting the "455" error as well, in some of the ATMs. Good to know I´m not the only one! Issue seems to have sorted itself out today anyway.

Mastercard issues today?

Evening all, Has anybody else had issues withdrawing cash from ATM using an overseas Mastercard? I tried in places I always withdraw cash but nothing...tried with smaller amounts...made no difference. Was able to pay using card tho! My cards are issued by UK and Spanish banks... Visa was working so ...

Re: Chile vs Brazil comparisons

I often feel ashamed to be Argy (only half!!) due to my "compatriots" behaviour and boorish attitudes, but this guy takes the biscuit. Feel sorry for any Brazilians reading. What a clown!

Re: Weekend Escape from Santiago

The URL worked for me.

Looks very nice.

Think that´s the first "no children" I´ve seen since I´ve been in Chile!! Makes me remember why I wanted to raise my kids here vs. the UK.

Still, not that you'd want to take small children to a cabin anyway.

Re: Income from property rental

You can avoid the 20% withholding by sending off form nrl1, here then gives a code to the lettings agency (who has the obligation to withhold 20%) authoring them not to withhold it... you have to be considered non resident though and the rules are now pretty complex, worth looking into tho.

Re: "Chilean customer service"; an oxymoron

Yeah I think customer services in the US must be really good, the Americans I know in London find UK customer services exasperating in the same way that some of the people who post here do.

I don't find it that frustrating here, clearly I am just accustomed to the BS.
