Taxes owed on vehicle sale?

I recently sold a vehicle in Chile through a friend, with a limited power of attorney. My question is do I have any kind of tax liability? I visit chile on a tourist visa only. I assume that the purchaser would pay any IVA at the registro civil, but is this income that I have to declare? If so how d...

Re: American size meat

The chilean cuts of beef are along the long muscle, and in general are tougher to chew. A thick lomo vetado will have have some very sinewy tissue running through it. Filete is easier to chew. In patagonia I usually get lomo vetado and cut it into smaller pieces, avoiding the sinew. Very tasty and I...

Santiago to JFK on 787. Coach seats excruciating. I am only 5'9" and I could not get my legs under the seat in front of me , when it was reclined. Also elderly couple in middle and window seats had great difficulty getting out to use the facilities. Had to ask people in front to raise seats upright.

Dentist in Puerto Aisen or Coyhaique

Does anyone have a competent dentist in this region? English would be great, but not essential.

Good way to end the year!

A happy ending story. Last night I was totally exhausted and frustrated at the difficulties in getting things done in Chile. Two projects in various stages of disarray, despite months of correspondence, assurances and money transfers. Three days running all over Santiago trying to get things moving ...

Re: Pre paid long distance phone cards

I think the easiest route may be to try and recharge my Chile phone before I arrive, then I can use my own phone to make the calls. I am curious to why the long distance cards are no longer used. Are the cell phone long distance rates competitive?

Don't need a calling card if you have a credit card to charge the call to.

Chile access numbers:

Telmex 800-225-288
ENTEL 800-360-311
Telefonica 800-800-288
Telmex 171-00-311
These are 800 access numbers for Chilean carriers? Do you suppose an US credit card will work?

Re: Pre paid long distance phone cards

Unfortunately this will be a call made from a business in Chile. Skype is not an option, and I will not have my own phone yet. I'll look in to the AT&T card.
