Re: Looking for a doctor specializing in multiple sclerosis

It is true about the doctors being off on holiday this month. I always think the saying should be "sobreviví febrero" not "sobreviví agosto"!

Re: Looking for a doctor specializing in multiple sclerosis

I have a friend whose husband has MS. He sees Doctor Barahona in the Clinica Alemana in Santiago. Any good neurologist should be able to determine if it is MS or not.

Re: Expat leaving debts in Chile

Regarding credit offers, it is still impossible for this permanent resident to get a Cuenta Corriente or a Chile credit card This is what is strange, that you can't get one but someone on a temporary visa did. I know some foreigners working here are able to get an account because the company they w...

Re: Expat leaving debts in Chile

For years I have watched perfectly decent friends in Argentina not pay the full amount of tax that they owe because "the government will just steal it anyway". As evil as you may consider banks to be, it is the person taking on more debt than they can handle who is ultimately to blame. A choice was ...

Re: Venezuela crisis

Interesting backgrounder on the Venezuelan pretty boy https://grayzoneproject.com/2019/01/29/the-making-of-juan-guaido-how-the-us-regime-change-laboratory-created-venezuelas-coup-leader/ “Juan Guaidó is a character that has been created for this circumstance,” You could probably say that about any ...

Re: Venezuela crisis

That is often the case when people up sticks because of turmoil or disastrous governments in their country. Happened to us. If people stay long enough their kids identify with the new country more than the old. Many Peruvians affected by the agrarian reforms brought in by Velasco Alvarado in Peru mo...

Re: Nico's Pizza

Around that time I only remember Pizza Nostra. Providencia was a good deal smaller than it is now.Pizza Nostra is still around but not many places that were around then are now. A financial crisis in the 80s did away with a lot. You should come and check things out.

Re: Brexit

The PM wants to deliver what the people voted for, Parliament wants to deliver what is best for the country. Amazingly, they are two different things. The EU is in serious need of slimming down and also dealing with the problem of free movement within the EU and immigration as a whole. There isn't a...

Re: Lent a Chilean several millions pesos, and he does not pay back

I have never been asked for a loan. My husband was considering giving a friend a large loan but I put my foot down. They were friends and nothing scuppers a friendship quicker than money issues. The only problem I have had with people not returning things was a gringo couple who never gave anything ...

Re: Brexit

I have not heard any politician from any party suggest a different deal which has a chance of reaching agreement with the EU. They just say they can negotiate a better deal. Why would the EU give them a better deal? There is no deal which will satisfy everyone and no deal will ever be more advantage...

Re: Returning to Chile after Prorroga

I suppose PDI already has your address? One is supposed to let them know of any change of address. That's how Viña knew I was resident in Santiago. Lost carnets are different. Those you can get at your local RC. Passports are different. Long story short, just went through the whole process a few mon...
