Re: Dilemma!!

I would not change country until you see what the world looks like in 2021. Chile is going to take longer to come out of this than the Netherlands and with a far fewer resources. I would take your house off the market and wait.

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

Number one son came to accompany me through a major operation in mid-March (which has not yet happened) and has stayed on, working remotely from here. As a green card holder he can be out of the US no longer than 6 months. So he will probably go back in July. The long flight is a worry for both of u...

Re: Should Schools Charge Less for Now?

Sorry for those losing their jobs or getting large pay cuts. Not good. Britkid, I thought you worked remotely here in Chile, but I don't suppose those jobs are any safer. I was speaking to a friend who is a teacher but also head of a section of a school so he has some administrative duties as well (...

Re: Any push back?

...the survivors (not in the medical sense) will be those who accept, adapt... I am a difficult person in many different respects. Especially, when there are any restrictions on freedom... that one has to "accept and adapt". I think there are other people of this sort. Maybe not... Anyway, do you b...

Re: Any push back?

I got out early this am to head off to San Antonio and Líder. I used the carretera and the kiosk girls warned me that there was a checkpoint a couple of km down the Rd with no way to circumvent it. A good save, seeing as I am under house quarantine for another week. I was wondering about your thoug...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

we have been avoiding the big super markets completely by using Jumbo delivery. few kinks in getting them to find our adress in the campo, one broken bottle of wine, but otherwise has been pretty good. Think we got the major kinks worked out now. we might never go back to shopping at the grocery st...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Thank you for posting that link. NPR podcasts are always worth listening to and this one especially. I wonder how much a statistical life is calculated at in Chile?

Re: Ludopathy gets a setback

I only once went into a casino, the one in Viña del Mar. It was completely silent except for the minor noise made by the various games. The people were all totally silent. There was no music. People were 100% concentrated on whatever game they were playing. It was highly depressing. They all looked ...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

I am not in a rush either. Haven't been out since the 16th of March. When the quarantine was lifted in my area I walked to the end of the block but panicked and returned home. I think a lot of people will feel like that for a while. Others will be champing at the bit to get out and about. They can g...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

The embassy does not organise flights. There are no "rights of repatriation". As a permanent resident you would be allowed into Chile with a 14 day quarantine after arrival if you could get here. There have been some charter flights from various parts of the world to return Chileans and permanent re...
