one of the best things about Santiago is the free street and theatre art/music/shows... true you can burn money in Santiasco, but it's also possible to get by on the smell of an oily rag and have a good time.

The Cusco to Lima leg should be around 100USD... Lima to Bogota is trickier. But I just did a quick search on O.r.b.i.t.z and a one way ticket appeared for 300USD 5 hours to Florida and then 3 hours to Bogota on Spirit Airlines (never heard of them!) Chile is perhaps one of the only countries in the world where a fee will be charged for unused water rights.
The situation in the north is a debacle, but I know there is some work happening to try and change it. Hopefully the public attention and public interest will help to push it along.

good spot to explore the central part of the city. The Bellas Artes museum is nice (free on sunday), the Santa Lucia hill is nice to walk up and you are close to plaza de armas (the central square) and central markets. I would also recommend crossing the river to eat lunch in the La vega market. In ...

yeah I think I must have been unlucky with the notories - the 3 in down town that I went to said that they were not authorised to personally sign in the space provided... I think its was just another classic case of chilean bureaucracy - when you know someone everything is very easy... however somet...
