Re: ServiEstado open on saturdays?

That worked, they were open until 4 today. It's the first time I've been to La Serena since all this started. What a mess.

My local ServiEstado is, but the webpage you linked is not telling the truth, unfortunately.
Thanks. As long as they're still generally open on Saturday, I should be able to find one. I don't think things are as bad here, as they are there.

ServiEstado open on saturdays?

Does anyone happen to know if ServiEstado is open on saturday's now (assuming they haven't been burned down)? I found this web page that gives their new civil unrest hours, but it doesn't mention which days those hours are for. https://www.bancoestado.cl/imagenes/_campanas/contingencia/index.asp#ser...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

So I had to go into Puerto Varas and do a couple of things. I stopped outside the mall to roll a cigarette, and check emails/messages on phone, there's normally a couple of staff out there from the mall, we smile and exchange greetings, today there was only an older lady puffing away nervously I sa...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Maybe the price of copper should be in there somewhere? According to this, it hasn't affected production very much yet: "National strike largely fails to halt Chile's copper mines " https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/market-insights/latest-news/metals/111219-national-strike-largely-fails-to-halt-ch...

Well this one isn't bad, it opens many opportunities for small stores.
Memories of old style corner stores. In those times before credit cards.
The small stores are what I like the most about living here. I don't have to walk far, to get almost everything I need.

Re: lost certificado de permanencia definitiva

I seem to remember getting a temporary document when I got my first ID, but I don't remember what it was called. Otherwise, I'd just search on that. Registro Civil gives you a receipt which supposedly you can use as a temporary id. My new cedula arrived before I needed to find out if that is true o...

Re: Pesos and Protests

It looks like a slow melt-up, with a brief spike to 800, and now the slow melt-up is continuing. I'm guessing there are very few USD sellers, most probably waiting to see what's going to happen. And 1 significantly large peso seller, who decided to get out now and found that there are very few USD s...
