Re: junking an old car

A girl at the beer store just told me that a junkyard is called a desarmaduría here. So Desarmaduría Libertad might be what I need.

Re: junking an old car

You may want to walk into a repair shop and ask what they typically do with their junkers. That, or ask your insurance company where they send their totaled vehicles. Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. If you are limiting your search to junk yards with an online presence, I'm not surprised that ...

possible. they are typically on the southern edge of Santiago.
Thanks. I really hope I don't need to send it to Santiago, since I'm in Coquimbo.

Re: junking an old car

I found a place called "Desarmaduría Libertad", in La Serena. And this is the info I could find: https://coquimbo.guianegocios.cl/empresas/la-serena-elqui-coquimbo/95909/Desarmaduria-Libertad.html Descripción: Compra De Autos Chocados Desarme De Autos Repuesto Rubros: • Desarmadurías de Autos Does a...

junking an old car

How do you do this in Chile? I have an old VW Parati that's ready for the junkyard, but I don't even know what a junkyard is called here. Or even if they exist anywhere near Coquimbo. Thanks for any help.

Re: giving away an old car

So that didn't happen. Are there junk yards in Chile? If there are, how do you go about junking an old car?

Re: corredors and boilerplate leases

You have too much respect for the Civil Law here, its an anachronistic mess. Thanks, I think that's my biggest problem. I really don't know how things work around here, but I'm slowly learning. And no, there is no presumption of "good faith". I did read this from the "EY Global Legal Commercial Ter...

Re: corredors and boilerplate leases

at a minimum, make sure that your contract specifies that the major systems of hot water, heat, plumbing are operational, AND are the responsibility, excluding damage you may cause, of the landlord. That's one of the first things I check. I think the lease I'm looking at now is ok. Do take photos w...

Re: corredors and boilerplate leases

Are these clauses enforceable as written? If you've agreed to them by signing a notarized contract, yes. Isn't there some kind of law that requires "good faith"? I'm not a lawyer, but I'm guessing that might provide some protection from clauses that could be abused by a dishonest landlord. I unders...

Re: corredors and boilerplate leases

I used to rent out rooms in my house, a long time ago. So I know it's not easy being a landlord. Unfortunately, these one-sided leases can scare off good tennants, since they can give too much control to bad landlords. Or at least they appear to. Anyway, that's what I'm trying to figure out. Are the...
